Another newbie question, please help.

lol haha I can relate to that. last band I was with we did alot of drop D so the B was really helpful for that raw hard deep sound I wanted. and here I am as well making knives.( But then again this is a much more enjoyable passion).

Dropped D is for gurls. :D

When I used to pretend to be a rockstar, we tuned to D-standard and dropped down to C for the heavy stuff. It sounds killer, and is easier for most singers' range. It's not just a metal thing, either. SRV played in D a lot, for instance.

FWIW I'm an old-school Gibson and Fender guy. I prefer Explorers and Strats, respectively. But I sure don't have anything against LP's. I used to own a red-sparkle Epiphone LP that I put gold hardware on, and real Gibson pickups in, and it SMOKED. I miss that guit-fiddle... :(

Yeah, if I could only have one guitar it would be my '84 Explorer with factory-installed Kahler trem and locking nut... me-installed Gibson 57 Classic Plus humbuckers. It's beat to hell but plays great.

Then again, one guitar is like one knife... :D

Alright!! That's 2 guitars and a bass now we need drums, vocals and a tour bus. We write some blues songs about the woes and heartache of the custom knifemaker.

My jeans weigh 80 pounds 'cause they're covered in steel dust
Got so much of it on my skin, when I shower I start to rust
I got slivers in my fingers and my hands are both stained black
Once you start to makin' knives there ain't no turnin' back!

Ohh.. the knifemaker's blues...
Yeah, I got the knifemaker's blues...

Sorry, that's all I got so far. :o :D

I bet the OP is goin' 'what the hell is goin' on here?!?'

I do vocals, (mostly classic hard rock, blues and Celtic rock, but I also fronted a heavy metal band back in '91) also I do blues and rock electric flute, fiddle when necessary, Hammond, and I can pinch hit on my Strat (Formerly owned by Bobby Comstock of Bobby Comstock and the Counts) if I have to
