another option to carry

We ride ATVs, on long remote rides in the southwest desert and western states mountains. I am for the most part appalled at how poorly prepared my fellow riders are....both dirt bike and ATV. Not only are they poorly prepared in terms of mechanical issues, but also in terms of their personal survival.

One guy showed up for an early fall high altitude ride with no jacket! Thing is, he was a LEO and had for many years been the spotter on their helicopter, which had done many rescues in the area. Half way through the ride it began to snow, so I had to give him my poncho to wrap up in.

In the desert (sport quad country), the most important piece of survival gear is water! In addition, I always carry enough gear to survive a night out on the trail, enough tools to do a reasonable job at repairs, and basic first aid.

In the mountains we will be on the 4X4 ATVs which have racks, so the options exist there for carrying even more gear.....

But, races are won the week before in the garage, and the same can be said for long rides out in the bush!

There were alot of talk about how to carry into the woods. Well I ride a motorcycle. I ran across this guy that uses this pouch for tools.. It seems he can carry enough to fix anything. Just another idea..

Thanks again,

If that link helps then its great, Alway ready to help a fellow rider. That guy that posted is prepared as well as anyone can be. Each one of us has a diffrent riding style as i ride a sport bike. But we all ride bikes so that makes us brothers sort of lol. With the group i ride with im known as the guy with the big case in the back lol.. More then once people asked me if i got an extra bottle of water.
