another overnighter: food death march.

Truly an epic adventure and I can tell you guys are "seasoned" by the looks of that firepit. Well done! And we do the same, lots of sharps and lots of food. Thanks for the pics and the narrative.

As always sir. great review and pictures. very cool sir. thanks for sharing.

thanks and you're welcome!

Sorry I missed this thread but thanks for pointing it out. Sorry also to hear of the issue with the BCUSA tarp, hope they get you figured out. What Kifaru shelter did you go with?

As always, great write up and AAR, keep it up. Ill post mine when I return from next weeks outing. If ever in Utah, look me up.

thanks! bcusa took care of me - full refund on the tarp including the shipping...i may not be a fan of nanosphere as a result but their customer service is excellent so i ordered their silnylon instead and hopefully it'll work better.

i ordered the supertarp with annex. i'm still researching which stove to get since they recently came out with those titanium/oval ones. i'm watching the owners' feedback closely this winter and i probably won't buy one until next winter (if at all) since i figured i have a 0° slick bag coming too so that pair should be more than enough for the kind of winter we usually get here anyway.

Thanks for sharing your outing. You guys brought a lot of hardware. Car camping without the car.... not really, didn't see one cooler. :)

you're welcome! haha, one guy actually packed a bag of ice in his pack :D

it's not the knife, it's the skill of the user that matters

I see that, and it appears that I still need to develop skills. Thanks for making this clearer for me and I mean this in pure honesty.

That is a bunch of knives and axes. :) What was the deal with that tarp? I also have an integral designs tarp and really really like it. Packs down to a soda can, often on hand if needed. Thanks for posting your outing.

yup, just keep practicing and it'll eventually become very easy...l'll often practice doing feathersticks while watching tv, no need to go to the woods.

haha, this is how my 60-liter pack looked like...i thought i'd never need to strap anything to the outside except a sleeping pad.

that's bcusa's ultralight tarp coated with nanosphere. i think the material itself is too stretchy - as soon as i received it i lightly pulled on the seam (simulating it being pitched) and i can see sunlight through it so i put two layers of seam sealer right off the bat. if i closed my eyes and you handed me that tarp and a silk tie i wouldn't know which is which by feel, it's that soft.

bcusa/guy gave me a full refund though including shipping so it's all good in my book! i now have the bcusa silnylon 10'x10' as a replacement and waiting to test it out in the rain.

as a side note, i found out recently integral designs is now under the rab brand name.

That looks like the endangered species known as a Kifaru KU pack. One fun thing about over night outings is yea can pack stuff for the pure fun of it without worrying about the weight too much. When I crack out the pulk sled it gets downright silly. :) Great to hear BCUSA took care of it. Nothing is ever prefect and lemons slip though but it is the CS of a company that makes the difference. I may have to buy something from them one of these days.
