The week I had with the Fattycrafter was awesome. I really felt that the handle heft was great for gloved hands with perfect control. the blade length allowed for utilitarian use and held up quite well for every day chores. it really was a beautiful knife, love the unfinished upper portion of the blade. I was unable to do any heavy duty chores with it as I had a busy schedule but I greatly enjoyed the time with the Fatty and can't wait to hear others opinions

Cool pics Tinwhiskers! Thanks for using it for a little bit and I hope it performed alright.

Fattycrafter showed up on Thursday. The first thing I did was pull it out of its sheath and check out the handle. I've made a few feathersticks with it and I have to says its pretty darn comfortable and I like the size quite a bit. I plan on putting the knife to good use in the next week and I'll get some pictures and a some thoughts about it after I send it off to the next guy.

The Fatty was in my mailbox Saturday June 2nd. After a long day at craft show it sure was a welcome sight. I'll play with it a while and post up my observations. It'll probably go out to the next guy on the 9th. I know you want to get it back Chris.

Thanks for being involved Steve! Pat, dont worry about rushing, Im in no rush to get it back.

Fatty has been shipped off to Vik. Will post my stuff tomorrow since my notes are at work. Good luck guys, it is a wicked knife.

Thanks Pat! I hope the scales didn't fall off on you!

No they didn't Chris. There was minor separation and they just popped back. Don't think it'll be an issue.

as of this evening, I'm no longer the only fatty in the house... :D
feels pretty good in hand - I'm generally not a fan of really wide scales, but this isn't bad.
even SWMBO with her tiny little hands says it's more comfortable than she expected.
the sheath is excellent.
what with work and an out of town wedding this weekend, it'll probably be 10 days before i get to post up anything else about it.

Just realized I've had this for nigh on a month -- time to pass it on before I get too attached! :D
first, I have to say in the past I have not been a fan of really big knife grips -- but these are different.
Very blocky and almost square, but with all the edges melted off and with a subdued but definite contour.
The sheath is also excellent.

then a comparison to my second newest knife the BK16 (and thanks again to arcadiaknives for the nifty little utility knife) -- note similarities in blade shape (the drop point is my favorite pattern) both have plenty of belly, but the fattycrafter is closer to a spear point than the Becker.

last, a functional shot:

This knife was great for food prep -- thanks to the oppressive heat this past several weeks, I didn't get to spend much time outside, but she got a lot of kitchen duty. no hot spots.
I did get outside Sunday when the temp was finally below 100 and did some whittling, fuzz sticks, carving, and drilling.
It's a bit too pointy for bowl carving, does a great job of drilling holes for bearing blocks and a hearth for friction fire.
made great fuzz sticks, and worked well for shaping the outside of a bowl -- even shaving knots smooth.
unfortunately, I had misplaced the camera, so didn't get pictures of any of this activity. :(
(besides, no picture i take could come close to competing with tinwhisker's glamour shots!)

so, next batter is up -- as soon as i have an address, this will be heading out to our next contestant!

1066vik- email sent. I may be next up and will give it a run down at the ranch the weekend of the 18th so no rush on shipping it out.

Looking forward to more observations. Cool knife Chris.

RWT - according to USPS you should check your mailbox Monday.

Also - before I boxed up the fattycrafter, i showed her off to a coworker who hunts -- a lot.
he loved the look, feel, heft, balance, blade shape, and the sheath.
asked me how much one of these would cost - said it would be perfect for unzipping a deer.
This is not a knife guy, so I took that as a good sign. :)

I've got it and been buried with work. I have prelim specs on it and will have a full review completed by next week.

TEK77 Please send and address as I cannot ship aftter Sunday, It will have to wait until next Saturday to go out or you risk having my wife send it.

This woudl be a bad idea on multiple levels and you could end up with a blade wrapped in tape and smelling of flowers.

Finally home for more than 3 days so I will have my review up this week. First impression is I LOVE THIS HANDLE......
