Another question about the grit of my sharpening stone

Like a previous user, I got a very nice sharpening stone from my father. It is maroon and the finest grit I've ever felt, though I've only felt a few cheap stones. I can post a picture if needed. Any ideas? Thanks :D

If its a barber hone (thin, maroon, may or may not have recessed area with some lines of text at one end) it should be about 2k - somewhere between 6k and 8k JWS - pretty fine.

I can't believe how fast that response was. That fits with what my dad would have, so I am sure that you are right. Thanks a million!
