Hey guys,
First of all, I have to thank you all for being patient with me while I ask tons of questions, some stupid, and some just plain old weird.

Anyways, I'm a bit confused as to my order of operations when it comes to heat treat and folder fitting.

I was think: get the blades from water jet, grind em' and drill them, heat treat(I send out to heat treat) with about 0.010 left on the pivot, then I finish up.

My question is does that order sound good? Or should I do the handles and what not pre heat treat?

If worse comes to worse I'll just give my wj guy a call.

Thanks again and I know it probably sounds stupid,
Alex.

I won't dare to give advice on folders since I am still working in my first but Bob Terzuola's book is a must read. It helped me a lot and is available as a free download (I hope legally). Very well written and detailed. The pictures aren't as good as the real thing but good enough until you can find one at a fair price.

I pefer to water jet (I typically have several done at one time), drill and clean up a bit, heat treat, flatten, grind and sand to final. There is not much to grind and with new sharp belts dip in water often and heat has not been an issue.

Some of this depends on your steel, with stainless you can better use your process since they will be pretty clean after ht, there is a bit more to remove from simple steel after ht, but warping can be and issue after ht.
