Another Question

I'm odd man out I guess ... I prefer a hammer and manual safety and steel over polymer anyday.

But I don't hate all striker fired pistols ... I love my H&K striker fired polymer VP9 but like my H&K P30 with a hammer better ... and I love my S&W Shield but I put an after market trigger in the Shield and Straight Eight Heinie Night Sights on it.

I think for many people striker fired handguns are good ... they are simple ... no manual safeties to have to work under stress ... no decocker levers to mess with ... just simple double action triggers for safety ... lighter weight to carry ... and most striker fired pistols now days you can replace the factory triggers and get good results ... and the customizable grip panels make it easier for people to get a grip that fits their hand better.

Again I'm probably odd man out but I do not like Glocks at all ... I know they are quality guns and very reliable ... but I've tried several and just never cared for them ... the few polymer handguns I own are H&K or S&W ... but I would reach for my 1911 or Steel Sigs or Steel Berettas over any of my polymer pistols.

I have a few doze. Handgins and a few are glocks but they never see day light. Full steel for this guy

I love my Kimber 1911, had it for 20 years, but just don't seem to carry it. I do shoot it at the range a lot.

All said, my carry pistol for the last several weeks has been a Kimber Micro 9. I waited until I had enough rounds through it to be comfortable with its reliability and how well I shot it before I started carrying it.

I believe my Kimber 1911 is around 17 years old. It has target sights so I never really considered it a carry gun.

Although, if you've seen the movie Seven with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, Brad's character carries a 1911 with target sights and you know how Hollywood is the expert when it comes to guns. Maybe I should reconsider :p:D.

Mine was made in 1997, just a plain fixed sight model. I've modified it slightly with a short spring guide rod, aluminum trigger (hated the plastic one it came with), steel mainspring housing (all Wilson Combat), and an Ed Brown slide stop. It's probably the most accurate handgun I own, and has never had a malfunction of any sort. I only use Chip McCormick Powermag magazines in it.

learn something new every day -- I was not aware Sig or Beretta made steel framed versions of their classic models.
thanks for the info.

Yes some of the Sigs are steel framed but even the alloy frames I prefer over the polymer ... just feels better in my hand to me ... and the Berettas I mistyped should be alloy or "metal" if you prefer ... I'm not sure if they make a "steel" frame if you want to be specific ... but I much prefer a steel or alloy over polymer and would prefer steel over even the alloy models if I had the option.

I prefer alloy/steel myself, and was serious -- I was not aware of the stainless framed sigs, but I am now -- and apparently, at one point Beretta made versions of the brigadier and the 96 with a steel frame.

Yeah I'm not sure if Beretta still makes any steel frame except the Stainless Models ...

And Sig is moving towards alloy and polymer I supposed to give people what they think they want ... but I'm glad they have held true and mostly stayed with metal ... I think they have a special spot in the market for quality and a loyal following ... H&K is still more metal and about quality over mass production plastic pistols.

I love my 1911s and sometimes think eventually I'll end up with just those if everything goes polymer ... the only thing I like with a few polymer pistols is for carry in summer to cut down carry weight and because of the humidity and sweat factors ... but even then I lean towards a revolver or my Beretta Cheetah alot.

Guess maybe Im on the backside of 40 as they say and grew up in the hayday of guns and quality was first over making pocket pistols and pink or purple plastic guns ... good old blued steel barrels and nice walnut wood stocks not cheap matte finished barrels and polymer stocks.

Those old kimbers are made way better than the new ones

Can anyone fill me in on how to post pics. The other forums its easy. This one is not letting me

I don't use any photo hosting site ... but I can post pictures with my gold membership just using the upload file button when I post.

Carry gun is a SA auto, 9mm Sig 938.

Normal carry is either the Glock 43 or the Kimber Micro 9, backed up by the NAA .22 Magnum

I don't have one dedicated carry gun. I have several that I carry based on various parameters but not those you listed. I carry what is reliable and meets the necessary level of concealability. Around town my favorites are my S&W 642 and Glock 43 with my SP 101 getting carry time also. If I'm traveling overnight or longer I'll have my Glock 17 with extra mags with me. In the woods it can be anything from my ultralight S&W 317, 22lr to a 629 Classic in 44 mag. The two least traditional or practical guns I carry are my Bond Arms 45/410 and NAA Pug in 22 mag.

My edc since 2003. Rides currently in a r grizzle warpig holster with matching mag carrier. I left the loops off the mag carrier to show they are both inside and outside the waistband. I only carry the mag carrier when im going through atlanta. The single pocket mag carrier is also a r grizzle for a glock 43 mag but works great for my 220 mag.
