Another reason to buy a RAT

Just saw this film, "Walmart the High Cost of Low Price". And I thought of one more reason to buy a RAT and support them. I can never say never, but I don't plan on entering through their doors ever.

I used to shop at walmart years ago. Then I realized they have a bad products, bad customer service, bad shopping experience and treat their employees poorly. I always left there feeling angry. The only people that win are the people that own the place.

On the other hand I love buying stuff from places that sell good products, can help you with questions and enjoy working where they are. I like leaving with a smile knowing you got something that will work for you. That's worth a lot in my book.

According to Forbes, 4 of the top 7 richest Americans are Waltons at approximately 20 billion each. If Mr. Walton was still alive he would be worth twice as much as Bill Gates who is currently #1. I believe in competition in the business world, but when you read how Walmart has locked the doors on employees so they can't leave the store on forced overtime and the pay rate is barely above minimum wage, $7.25 an hour where I live and yet 4 of the richest Americans are the Waltons, I can't support Walmart. The sad thing is Walmart is the largest employer in the USA and the parking lot is always full.

I know how you feel. Walmart came into our area and ran all the competition out of town. Now they are the only place to shop.

I am currently involved with a campaign which is fighting the Walmart that they are trying to build right around the corner from my house. They are trying to put it smack-dab in the middle of my purely residential area. Right accross from the fire house and right down the street from the hospital. What a mess it will create. Not to mention the fact that a ton of money was just poured into revitalizing Main St. in my town. The store fronts were all referbished and businesses are doing much better. New places have been opening up and people are actually shopping on the main drag again. Walmart will destroy all that. Property values will go down, crime will go up and corporate fat cats will get fatter while their employees will be overworked, underpaid and not be able to go see a doctor when they are sick.

Wal-mart is where I go if absolutely no one else has what I need. Bunch of junk. I could have bought a 20 dollar piece of crap knife from God knows where, but I'll gladly take the RC-4 that just came today. I feel better knowing the products I buy are supporting an American worker.

I think Sam Walton is rolling over and over in his grave. His idea was to sell American made product but he died and greed took over. The only people making money on Walmart is the corporation and China. How do you think they have the money to lend to Obama? It is our money! I hate Walmart and Sam's club and refuse to go into either one. Walmart came into the small town in Okla. that I lived in and distroyed it from then on I boycotted it.

I go to wally world to purchase my CLIF bars. They are $1 at Wal-mart and usually around $2 anywhere else.

Wal-Mart is a modern day sweatshop who stocks as many sub par products as they can get away with. More and more it seems the strategic placement of Walmart Supercenters, coincidentally, are in areas where they may be deemed a "convenience".

and it is because to many people high end or low end of the pay scale shop there not knowing or caring about the bigger picture.... that blindeye is what is destroying america today.

Well, I am not a big fan of Walmart and for a long time simply did not give them my money. Then marriage came and a house. My wife and I tried our best not to give our money to Walmart. We did most of our grocery shopping at Giant Eagle. I am in agreement with everyone on why walmart is bad and their behavior is unexcusable. BUT..... We have broken down and now buy some things at walmart just because we realized that in all reality we were only hurting our own bank account. We still get the finer things at giant eagle, but when it comes to certain groceries and supplies, the price is good. Hey, I figure if I can save some cash by buying shampoo and cereal at Walmart, that is more money for RAT cutlery!

With walmart people complain about it taking peoples jobs because of it's low prices.

Without it people would complain that prices are to high everywhere else.

This is the sad truth.

With walmart people complain about it taking peoples jobs because of it's low prices.

Without it people would complain that prices are to high everywhere else.

It's not about the prices. It's about how they treat people, customers and employees and what kind of product they sell. They pay somebody crap to make crap so people can buy crap and all the money goes upstream to a select few or China.

I'd rather work harder make something better that will better serve the customer, support my local economy or at least businesses with ethics.

Some people will complain about anything, that's not a good reason to have a walmart.

Besides, you're paying for it anyway.

Wal-Mart encourages its workers to seek public assistance for their health care. That cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a year in basic housing, medical, childcare, and energy needs according to a report released by Congressman George Miller (D-Martinez)

Wal-Mart has benefited from over $1 billion in economic development subsidies. according to a new study by Good Jobs First, a Washington, DC-based research group

I dont go to wall mart for all of the above reasons and the fact that where i live its absolutely nasty in there...same with the sams club that is here...its gross...that with all the other reasons that have been mentioned and i would rather not have something than buy it there, but thats just me...

I don't get the resentment for the owners of Walmart for their success. All they did was legally buy cheap products and sell them to the millions of people who demand the cheap products. If Americans didn't want cheap shit Walmart would be out of business.

We buy knives like RATs, right? Most people carry Buck fixed blades for hunting, and shitty cheap folders for everything else. Walmart appeals to the masses, who generally want cheap garbage because that is all that they need. How many people with a 440c hunting knife that they paid $20 for even know what batoning is?

If you are not happy with the local culture, change it.

Just because it's legal does not make it ethical and vice versa. I agree that Walmart appeals to the masses because most people don't care about good companies or good product and just want a cheap price but not caring causes a lot of the problems we have. And I think I also just pointed out that we pay for those cheap prices.

"If you are not happy with the local culture, change it." I do my best.
