Another reason to buy a RAT

"If you are not happy with the local culture, change it." I do my best.

Then you are waaaaay ahead of most of America.

It's a lot easier to bitch and whine instead of actually attempting to change things, even if that only means making an example for others. Most complainers don't even vote, leaving the decision making of our country to various special interest groups. Then hard working people wonder why things aren't the way that they want.

I don't approve of Walmart in general, because I like things that last, and don't mind paying a bit more. For the bad things done by Walmart, I blame the people walking in the doors spending their money instead of the owners of the company. Walmart doesn't kill local businesses, patrons do.

Drug dealers wouldn't exist without the addicts poor choices.

"Drug dealers wouldn't exist without the addicts poor choices." While this is true, everyone makes some bad choices in life. Speaking as someone who has been addicted to nicotine I must say that people that make a living destroying there fellow brothers and sisters might have questionable ethics.

The only thing I buy at Walmart is food. And the only reason I buy it there is because the competitor down the road is considerably more expensive. It's true enough that the rest of their merchandise is garbage, but with four mouths to feed I have to get the most bang for the buck.:)

I refuse to support that sweatshop, it has terrible products and treats it's employees like dirt.

Walmart is around because people are greedy and selfish. As the people here that shop at Walmart stated it's cheaper. Anything to save a few bucks even if it creates a cancer on our society. Who cares if it causes the factory in your town to close down and everyone loses their decent paying jobs they can always work at walmart..........

me likes Wal-Mart... especially the common stock! I use some of my profit to buy RAT knives (and the rest I just roll around i) so in a way, Walmart has, and is supporting RAT. how shameful. Also, the money I save at walmart helps me donate to my church ducks unlimted, delta waterfowl, the NRA, etc instead of handing it over to someone who may or may not do what I want done with my money

As I own a tiny piece of walmart, so do most people with a 401K, IRA, or Pension since those assets need to be invested somehwere and not too many people want losses in their portfolio.

Alot of stuff at walmart is not the level of quality I demand, but the majorityu of the products is mass produced, with no differences in quality between wlamart or anywhere else. If you think I'm spending 15% more for the same bottle of tylenol somewhere else you are nuts.

Plus, there are people who CAN'T afford anything else. without Walmart, they'd enjoy a lower standard of living.

Wlamart is around because people are selfish and greedy? This on the same board where people post up looking to save $1 buy finding the best online retailer for their $100 knife? ha! The irony is so thick I could cut it with a 440 stainless steel buck knife from walmart.

Look through my posts and see if i have ever put saving a buck before helping support the american worker. I many times have said i would be willing to pay more money to help the American worker. I firmly stand by my statement that you are greedy and part of the reason for walmart being a successful corporation.

I'm over Wal*Mart, for most of the reasons outlined above. We haven't shopped there in years. One was to go up a few hundred feet from my house in an old RV park but they couldn't reach an agreement with the city on a traffic management plan.

People roll their eyes or tell me how much they love Wal*Mart, but my minimalist/organic/redneck-hippie lifestyle really doesn't require much that they sell. Well, now that they don't sell $40 Spyderco Natives, anyway...

It *is* generally the cheapest place in Bend to buy .22LR bulk pack. That is a drag. I wait for it to go on sale at BiMart instead.

I hate Walmarts business and customer service, but I love their Ammo prices and where I go to school Walmart is the only grocery store around. Probably because they closed down the other local grocery stores.

The ends do not justify the means. If you do something wrong and use some of the funds to do good it doesn't justify the wrong. If your 401K or IRA is supported by slave labor do you think that's ok? Do you feel good about your portfolio getting fat by mistreating others?

If you think there is no differences in quality between wlamart or anywhere else then you need to look around. You compare Walmart to Target, I'm not sure there is a lot of difference.

Why do you think everyone on this board is exactly the same? I bought my knife at a dealer that had good service at a price that I thought was reasonable, NOT the cheapest place I could find it and I'm sure many others here did the same.

I don't blame people when they can't afford to shop anywhere else but you don't sound like one of those people and I don't think Walmart is solving any poverty problems. It does however cause a few.

You know, people just don't learn
I've hollered for years that spending your money on things not made in the US was going to hurt eventually.

You always have the guys that scream "Yeah, but if I save money there, I can spend it here" Unfortunately, that is very shortsighted. Because it's not all about money, at least not your money.

See, when you buy American, you are buying something made by an American at an American job. Now, he's getting paid money he then comes and buys the stuff your company makes, keeping you employed.

When you constantly buy outside of the US, you are no longer paying the American to do a job, so he becomes unemployed. Not a big deal. . .until it snowballs into a lot of people losing their job, who are now not buying your stuff, and you are out of a job. Where's your savings now?

Some things you have no choice in, as they aren't made in the US. I understand that. But people's shortsightedness and greed have sent the economy swirling.

Some object, that everything we buy made int he US just pays to line the pockets of the greedy bastards at the top. Well, it's better to line the pockets of our greedy bastards (who also happen to pay our paychecks), than to line the pockets of someone else's greedy bastard at their top.

As for your portfolio. Funny, my portfolio has all American companies. Yeah, they went down, but when everyone else was losing 10-30%, mine were losing 1.5% (of course you don't actually lose unless you sell). Last year, during the depths of the depression, Ford stock sank to almost $2 a share. When they said F- Obamanomics, and didn't take the bailout money, I bought $10,000 worth. Everyone told me I was f-ing nuts. Stupidest thing I could do. At the last I checked yesterday, it was at $11.19 a share.

Who's really stupid?

Good on most of you supporting the little guy.

If big corporations drive all competitors out of business, they'll be the only place left. If they're the only one's left, they could charge whatever they wanted and you'd have no option but to pay it.
