Nice knife Gerry!
I think your craft is being assaulted by the economy. Unemployment here is 13%.
Many guys find themselves suddenly short for the first time in their lives.(They are not old enough to remember Carter's, Johnson's and Truman's recessions.)

Gerry,
I've had two back out already this year, too. :(
I guess the economy is kicking people's rears.
Great looking knife. His loss and someones else's gain.

OK, looks like the original buyer wants it after all. He ignored my e-mails but saw it for sale here and says he is sending a money order. I am going to withdraw this for now and if the mo does not show up in a week I will post this one again. Thanks for the comments guys.

13% unemployment means that 87% of the population is working. People who place orders are entering into a contract that legally and ethically needs to be completed. Sure, things happen like job loss, the wife (or husband) finds out, etc. etc. but to just ignore the fact that an order is ready to ship is wrong. At least a buyer should explain the reason why a contract cannot be fulfilled.

I rant, sorry!

Nice knife.

You're right- in all decency contact the Maker and tell them the truth as soon as possible.

That's a beauty and a great price too boot.

Damn nice piece Gerry . I understand your frustration , been there a couple of times . Held one for 6 weeks once for a return customer with no contact . I raised the price and listed it , sold in a day . Looks like you already have a back up buyer . It will be a good score for him , I hope he gets it myself .

Gerry,
I know exactly where your comeing from. It seems the longer the back-log the more often this happens. I feel your pain.

i think your knives should be paid in full before starting them if they are custom orders. dont be sheepish about it, if they cant come up with it, they are not as interested as they seem to be. woodster.

Don't be sorry, Gerry. You're absolutely right.

'When trying to compare historical and contemporary employment and unemployment rates, it is important to note that US employment and unemployment figures (and there are multiple official employment and unemployment figures for the same time period, just as there are multiple official rates of inflation, depending on exactly what is being looked at) are now calculated differently than they were during the 1930s and 1940s. In general, current unemployment numbers would be between 5% and 10% higher if calculated in the same way as in the past; conversely, the numbers from the 1930s and 1940s would be 5% - 10% lower if calculated using our contemporary methods.'

When you put 13% in context of the way it was in the '30s and make allowances for the difference in the was unemployment was calculated, it gets a little more significant.
All that aside he should have sent you a note Gerry.
