Another Sacrifice on the Alter of Performance

My wife, Anne, had a .38 pistol (still got it) from her marriage to the psycho that she accidently discharged while married to her other husband, the accountant. It went through the bedroom wall, where she was and shattered an aquarium beside him while he was watching tennis on TV. He took it from her and she only got it back after the divorce (for other reasons).

Anne has also learned gun safety, now.

Kronckew, the "psycho" was very good to Anne. He was just crazy to everyone else. Would not talk in their house because the CIA had it bugged. Would always sit with his back to a wall when they went out saying things like, "This position is easily defensible."

He got much worse after they separatedl. He built an ultralight plane in their living room after the divorce, crashed it and had a plate in his head. Began hearing voices.

He beat up Dan Rather as the representative of the :"Network" (What's the frequency Kenneth?") and later shot a stage hand, killing him. :(

Now in a hospital for the criminally insane. Elegible for parole next year, Uh oh!

But he was always good to Anne.

He was good training for her marrying me. Ha ha, hee hee. :D :D

Of course an ultra-light will crash that is built in your living room . Certainly you will hear voices . They will be screaming :Open the window first : )

My friend's dad put two 30-06 rounds through the bed of his brand new pick up truck. he was resting the rifle on one side of the bed and looking through a scope aiming at a target about 75-100 yards away. He forgot that the barrel was about two inches lower than the scope he was looking through and at a distance of 5 feet punched the holes in the bed. At first he thought the rifle wasn't shooting straight, until his son started laughing.

glocks have been known to shoot out of battery. That is one reason why i carry a 17.

Glock model 20 10mm?? Ahh the only reason to ever consider buying a GLOCK!!!...I told you guy's they werent a total waste of money!!!

My bro Jason had TWO (2) mishaps in one day...We were testing his new holster for his Walther P-22 (quick draw style)...Well it was my turn to punch some paper and cans when Jason decided to try and see what the spread was for his new pet load (Velociters)..We had argued about them earlier..

Jason puts his almost new chrono out and shoots several strings...After the 9th string of 10 he looks at me and smirks about the results and pops a round right into the screens...Idjit didnt even realize what he had done until he looked at what I was laughing about and pounting at!!! I offered to help him pay for it, the laugh was worth the extra $$$

NEXT on the Jason booboo list is, we were shooting his Ruger 22/77 target gun off of his truck..He decided to use his toolbox as a rest and you can guess what happened!!

Ahh good times!!!

Your logic confuses me. You state that Glocks can fire out of battery (implying a deficiency) and then you mention that you carry one...? Or are you referring to something else?

In any event, this phenomenon is hardly limited to Glocks. Most firearms can fire out of battery to one degree or another, especially if they've seen some use. (Try it on a snap cap.) Generally speaking the pressure levels of the cartridge, the design of the weapon, and the nominal thickness of the cartridge casings all take this into account.

This was neither an equipment failure nor a negiligent discharge -- it was merely a round that I pushed 2" to 7 o'clock at an inopportune moment. It would not have been an issue had I been shooting at anything other than the space above the chrono.

And as for the chrono...I'm sad to report that the patient eventually succumbed to its injuries. I was unable to diagnose what was wrong with the rear board but it's obviously not working. Judicious percussive maintenance restored the case to its original dimensions, however, so I'm planning on contacting the manufacturer about the possibility of a replacement board.

The Glock 20 is something else, but developing loads in unknown territory, with a hot cartridge, using milsurp powder from pulled down .30 Carbine ammunition most likely made before I was born, in a pistol with a poorly supported chamber and a reputation for occasionally grenading in the heavier calibers...well, it's a bit stressful.

Dave I think he was kidding with ya a little...THAT or he was referring to the 9mm's not having a rep for kabooming...

anywho..

Why using old stuff for the 10mm?? Speers reloading manual lists the 10mm and while some of the loadings have been backed off some (I bet anyway) they are still stepping right along..

From Speer reloading manual

If you want to go the route of one of my customers, get yourself one of those 6" barrells for that beast...It will kick his 180grn hunting loads to right at 1200fps with no sign of pressure...It kicks like a beast though..lol :)

When I get the extra $$$ I plan on getting me another 10mm...I had one for several years and really regret selling it

if you want ammo from the factory that is "moving" give double tap ammo a buzz...http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_25
Dont take this post as me saying ya dont know what you are doing, I am just suggesting a different route to take..Feel me?:p

I feel ya.

Burn rates of WC820 vary considerably from lot to lot and while I've got this keg dialed in, it doesn't really track with any existing powder and I have to start mild. This current load kicks the 190 grain Sierras out of the stock barrel at 1150, give or take, with the spent brass showing a slight color difference at the six o'clock position but without bulging or engraving. I could probably safely ramp it up a bit more but I'd expect the brass to suffer and honestly, this is hot enough for my purposes.

I've considered an aftermarket 6" barrel for the chamber support alone but I'm too cheap to spring for one as long as there's already a functional barrel on there. ;)
