well my porta band has a very hard time cutting my 1/4" 5160 burton steel so i went to the pawn shop looking for an angle grinder with a cut of disk and found this its a makita 2414B cutoff saw and i onley payed 75 bucks for it. its table is a little beat up but still in great shape. heck super score for a $400 saw and the table can be replaced.

Great pickup. I bought one new, but different brand and not as good of a product, but it works well. I use it from time to time and it comes in real handy.

Once I got the metal cutting bandsaw, I began using my cutoff saw less, but still wouldn't trade it.

man i did the first cut and i cut through 1/4 x 1 1/2 5160 in like 3 sec. my band saw would take around 5 min and would over heat.

JT,

Good score. What kind of blades are you using on your band saw. It should cut through a lot faster than that. i got a portaband because my chop saw took too long to cut through damascus billets. I can cut a 1.5x1" billet in about 30 seconds with the bandsaw. Now I have a real bandsaw and it works even better.
