Hi all!

I finished up another Spay Blade for your consideration. I originally made these as kitchen knives for cutting potatoes and things like that, but a Forum member suggested it would also make a great skinner, so I figured I would post it here in Fixed Blades to see if there is any interest.

Original description:

I wanted to build a small kitchen helper that would be good for slicing things like potatoes and such. Being a lover and collector of traditional folding knives, I decided to combine my desire to build the kitchen knife with my love for the very practical spay blade shape. Hence, the Potato Spay was born!

This one is from W2 steel and is differentially heat treated and then etched to bring out a light hamon. The scales are Brown / Yellow G-10 with a translucent Amber G-10 pin and four small copper pins as well. The knife is 7.5” in overall length with a 3.25 cutting edge (slightly longer if you consider the curvature of the blade.) It is just under 2” wide at its widest point.

The grind is full flat and is quite thin behind the edge and the whole way up for slicing prowess. It’s a new design - I hope you like it!

Price is $100 shipped USA! I accept PayPal F&F, money order or personal check cleared.

Thanks!

Mike

Some hunters would trade a rifle for such a sweet skinner. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

EDIT: I live is Moose, Deer, Bear country (with gazillons other things requiring skinning and dressing). If you pay attention to what old timers who actually peeled about everything with fur are using.
Their skinning knife have a:
1- Relatively short and curved blade close to the fingers for maximum feel;
2- Rounded tip to prevent unwanted piercing of lower layers;
3- Easy to clean (shiny/non porous) surfaces;
4- Easy to keep razor sharp;
5- Stainless is a nice to have, but not mandatory since these guys know how to take care of a blade and will favor 1,2,3,4 before 5
