Another surface grinder question. Coolant??

I just purchased a 5"x10" brown and sharp surface grinder. Im in the process of getting it ready to use. It came set up to grind dry. I plan to use stones (I do not plan to convert it to Belts). Do i need to add a coolant sustem or can i grind knife thickness steel dry?

You can grind dry. Just make sure you rear a respirator. The coolant will keep the material cool and keep any dust from gettin ginto the air, but it makes a mess and the coolant tends to detoriate and smell like rotten eggs. You have to change it often. Just take small cuts. BTW welcome to the forums.
