another survival tale in the woods, not so happy ending

She made a goodbye video to her sons before she set out to get help.

It's sad to watch. Scroll down to see it.

"At the depths of her six-day ordeal trapped inside a Jeep during a fierce snowstorm, 46-year old Paula Lane recorded a goodbye video to her 11-year old twin boys.

"I'm so sorry this has happened," a tearful Lane said into the camera. "I just want to come home."

Is it horrible that I don't feel bad for people like this. If your going offroad you should be prepared if not well you take your chances that this will happen.

And once again...stay with the vehicle!!! Big object, offers shelter (From wind, rain, snow, animals, bugs, etc), has some resources! Unless it is clear where and how far to go to walk to safety then go but if not I am a believer if you cant walk out easily, stay with the vehicle.

Gosh, the guy froze to death less than a mile from the car? It was only six miles to the main road?

Distance doesn't mean much if hypothermia sets in immediately.

He probably did not have the right clothing on for a walk during a snowstorm. These people were from Citrus Heights, a suburb of Sacramento. Temps don't drop much below 50 degrees in winter and summers can get over 100.

Nature shows no mercy for the ill-prepared. It's not right, wrong, tragic, nor any other subjective value we try to place on it. It simply is, and its the way it's always been. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I think its hubris to believe otherwise.
