Another Take on Using High-End knives

My personal philosophy is that if I'm afraid to carry and use it, I won't buy it. I don't care if it's custom or production--I want to be able to feel comfortable about carrying it.

I agree here as concerns my average day which could involve cutting rope (thick or thin), paper, cardboard, sacks (of animal feed), wood, hose, plastic, and food. But if I know I'm going to be cutting roofing paper or slicing open bags of sand, I'll reach for one of my sub-$25 knives every time...

That being said, I'm 90% of the time found to be carrying either some custom fixed blade in the $100-$150 range, or, if a folder, either a Sebenza or high end production/custom collaboration. I'm not called on to cut abusive materials every day, and I usually know ahead of time when I will be...

To deny a knife use, is to deny it its reason for being. It is a tool first, used for cutting things. art object, valueable object second. It is important to know the value of things and not just the cost. Remember you can't take it with you. Use it and enjoy it while you can. Life is to short. Just my 2 cents. later
