Another talon hole copy?

perhaps the busse forum instead of the "for sale" area would result in some discussion?

Yep... At least on the khukri (My unprofessional opinion!). Now if we can just get this thread moved over to the Busse forum...! :D:D

Both are too close, imo. Not that there is any mistaking these for Boss Hog's work :)

Extreme ratio???? 90/10? 99/1? What's an extreme ratio - besides a marketing name? If I'm 50/50 on buying an Extreme ratio knife, does that make it a. . . nevermind.

Give me a break...Busse's are great but Extrema Ratio are also. Different type of knives completely. Surely it isnt necessary to be watching out for every talon hole breach. Busse knives can stand on their own without needing to worry about stuff like this in my opinion. Besides, does anyone have documentation of the talon hole copyright? I can't see how drilling a hole in a front finger guard could be a patent. The entire handle design yes, but not a simple hole unless it is something original like a spyderco hole.

it's a busse trademark.

kind of like the round hole in a spyderco i believe

jerry is well aware of this and has prolly already handled it

Here is my "stock" answer to your question. I will continue to post it as long as people ask "what's the big deal, it's a hole"

Busse Combat has a registered trademark on the Talon hole, it is their responsibility to protect that trademark. There are no trademark police checking for infringements so the registered owner must protect their own trademark. Because of this every infringement must be addressed, if it isn't then the trademark is worthless. Unless the maker has a specific agreement with Busse Combat (the owner of the trademark) they are infringing on the trademark.

Irezumi, havent you commented on this before and gotten the same answer??? I believe it was in the thread about Flatgrinders trademark dispute.

That Khuk is pretty blatant, but how does one enforce a trademark over seas? I know China and Pakistan are pretty much out of reach, but Extrema Ratio is in a modern country.

I don't think it's that easy enforcing the trademark. Sometimes even the trademark can be challenged. I'm just thinking aloud the case with the Spyderhole and Benchmade. Not always so clear cut.

I didn't say it was easy to enforce it, I said it was the owners responsibility to do so. If Jerry does not enforce it, the trademark is worthless.

Indeed.

You either protect your intellectual property -- from EVERY challenge -- or your LOSE your intellectual property. Jerry has very little choice.

This is not a guess on my part or even my opinion. It's a fact. I've worked with and for the government for many decades. In this area, I know what I'm saying.

And I can't see how any reasonably intelligent adult could continue to fail to discern the difference between a registered trademark and a patent.

I KNEW there that to be some area?!? :D

Kidding! Kidding!I've got a feeling you've already forgotten more than I'll ever know.

Oh, my poor, poor Paddling Man! ;)

So kind ... so naive.

You must ALWAYS take my pronouncements and protestations with a large grain of sodium chloride. Particularly when I am engaged in invigilation.

This is where I come to decompress; to rest my weary head, as it were. I seldom engage the small amount of neural processors remaining active inside my cranium. :D

I get Blade and a few other knife mags and i notice the hole is showing up more and more.

Factory and handmades alike.
