Another TGA2 Update!

Found a thread on another forum using 1/2 cup dark green and 1/4 cup dark brown liquid rit to 3 gallons water to make OD Green. This measurement was for clothing. Do you think this would work on Busse green micarta to turn it OD Green?

I'm considering doing this to a Whiskey Warden I've ordered.

I've dyed G-10 and micarta, I was planning on using RIT, black and dunking/short soaks..to darken the "baby poop green" towards more of an OD..

I'd imagine layering/ blending colors will darken the shade overall..

Different manufacturers of and even different lot numbers from the same manufacturers will yield different results...no way to really know till do it..

Please post pics when/if you do this...would be interested your results.

I'm looking at it on a phone so hard to see, but what parts of the grips did you sand down? The dye job looks good!

From the top to bottom on each side of the scales. Basically sanded down to the tops of the tubes. They are much thinner and all the ridges have been sanded out.....less blocky if you will.

After seeing this it makes me wish I had gotten mic looks better every time I pull this up.

Icky Thump Icky Thump You've dyed G10? I did not know it would take any kind of dye - care to expand what you did? I'm curious how it was after time and what color on what color? pics? :D ` I'm intrigued!

I dyed olive G-10 to black. I used a Rit dye liquid that is for polymers/plastics...different than the standard powdered Rit...it's RitPlus or RitMore..something like that..I can confirm, I have another bottle somewhere..

Brought to a boil, simmered/soaked the knife for less than an hour. It did stain the bare SR101 but cleaned up w/ scotch-brite and steel wool.
