In the past Brian Andrews and KGD have reported on their trips to the Waterloo SGA/Rec Area in S.E. Michigan.

I left the house on Friday and returned earlier today. Unfortunately I have to report that I was so busy, I forgot to take pics of a lot of the trip. :o

First pic is Home-sweet-home-away-from-home. Camp Bent Arrow. My wife and Daisy get a fire started in the late afternoon while my daughter Kate keeps watch from the Crows Nest (notice the ladder. There is a small widdows walk built into the roof.

I've been babysitting this beauty for kgd. I might have a hard time letting it go.

Our mode of transportation for the weekend - The Swamp Cat.

Motored up on this lone Swan that decided I had got close enough.

More to come...

Sunday was less fun. Being part owner of the dwelling in the first pic, I had some maintenance to handle. Get the Honey Wagon to stop by, hang blinds and curtains, clean, blah blah blah...
More of a relaxing day. We did a lot of fishing on Saturday and got a bit in on Sunday but I failed to get any pics of our catch :(/ There are three lakes separated by canals. We hit the farthest and most remote lake and hammered the panfish (bluegill, red ear, pumpkinseed, sunfish, bream to our southern viewers).

Remembered to take some pics when motoring through the canal on the way back:

On Monday the wife and I decided that the rain was not going to stop us. We went for a short hike on one of the loops. Lakeview to be specific. Seen here as the green loop:

When the rain let up, the turtles took it as their cue to start nesting/egg laying.

A couple painted/red ear sliders:

This one was a bit more shy but wasn't about to quit what she was doing:

Thanks for looking,

Cool turtle pics. I used to see them all the time when I was growing up in upstate NY, but out here there aren't many of them.

Awesome rupestris. Love those laying turtle pictures. I haven't seen that in a long time. Last time I came across one it was a giant sea turtle on the beach off of Cancun.

Thanks for sharing! I had a good time watching turtles a a campground here last summer. My younger son was so enthralled he scampered around looking for more. Great entertainment and to me, a good substitute for xbox.
