Another Urban Hike & Some More Observations

I'd like to have an area in a city I could actually go walk around without having everyone stare at me.

Thanks for sharing, such a nice view ;)

Thanks man, so far the best time I've found for that is early morning before the city starts waking up

Those are some good looking pics and it looks like a good time. You have really inspired me to try and go out and do an "Urban Hike" of my own. It would really be a different experience then I am used to. Oh I also wanted to comment on your previous thread in regards to Rail Roads. I work around them and you were correct, there are more supplies around RR's then anywhere else I have ever encountered. It is quite amazing.

Thanks for posting things like this. I am mostly wilderness based in my thoughts and experience and through threads like this I have become more conscious of my urban awareness and opportunities.

Thank you, glad you liked them and the post. There is almost always some nice scenery in a city somewhere. Chattanooga is called the scenic city for a reason lol...if it were just the bad things here relocating would be easy...as it is I really like it here...it just scares the crap out of me at times :)

Beautiful shots there. What make and model of camera do you use?

Thank you, these were shot with a Canon Power Shot A590IS.

I was gonna ask the same...I shoot with a 50D.

Btw..How do you like the handle on the Hest?
I want to pick one up but I have big hands:thumbdn:

The HEST fits my hand just fine, and my palm measures 4.3 inches at the widest point at the base of my thumb.

as you can see my hand about maxes the handle out in the reverse over-hand grip but still comfortable doing the chest lever.

I had a curious visitor for this shot.

Great pics, as usual. I enjoyed the "Big Brother" is watching shots. Those fish-eye lense cameras have become ubiquitous here in the Not So Democratic Peoples Republic of NYC.
It's getting so you can't find a quiet alley to empty your bladder in when going home at zero-dark-thirty in the morning without finding yourself on Candid Camera!!

Not that I, or my aging bladder, would ever do such a thing, Ahem......

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the pics.

Lots of cameras here...they are taking out a lot of the traffic cameras but still lots of them in the parks and every pay and private parking lot....and on lots of buildings....and the main highways.

That first photo of the ferry and water belongs in a magazine; a very, very nice shot with the lighting.

Thank you, that's one of my favorite shots so far too.

You take awesome pictures! I love these! You are making me think of heading out and looking around, even if my finger is itchy ass hell from stupid stitches. lol.

H#ll, head on out man...it's warmer weather so maybe you'll find some nice views to take your mind off the stitches...just be careful and don't break them loose, and mind possible causes of infection.

All I can say is WOW...Measurements and pics with various grips.

Thank you very much:thumbup:..Above and beyond.

Nice photos

The last photo: is that your wife, or your daughter (I don't know how old you are)? Or did you snap a picture of some random girl?

Thanks, glad you liked them. Technically my wife is young enough to be my daughter... but that's beside the point I guess. As for that particular shot the camera was still on and sitting on the table after some other shots I took. She is one of the regulars there and was sitting across the deck from me...I noticed how the light was playing in her hair (caused by the tree beside the deck swaying in the wind). So on a whim I took one finger and turned the camera in her direction and just pushed the button to see if the camera would pick it up. The timing was a little bit off with the swaying of the tree but it didn't turn out bad...I liked the effect and made mental notes of the shutter speed and saved the picture....I thought it wasn't bad for a random, spur of the moment picture, taken with just one finger.

He found love...for however brief it was ;) Love these shots btw!

And yah, a few more days and I go back in to have them cut off the stitches. Been a pain doing stuff since I need my index finger ;)

Showed the doctor the knife, and said they are so sharp he thinks he could perform surgery with it...he said be careful, such a sharp knife next time could cut my finger off, I said he should get one. He wrote down ESEE Knives, and said he would google, search, and purchase. Hes a weekend backpacker. I think I turned someone ;) its a weird and great feeling. lol.

Thanks man, glad you like the shots. Yeah, I had gotten distracted by something and forgot to properly clean the knife after cutting on that Quesadilla, and the bee was attracted by the scent. You can see the oil still shining on the blade in those pics and the acid from the peppers and onions had left a patina on the edge that you can see in the reverse over-hand grip pic. I had to clean it up after I took those pics.

Glad you're getting the stitches out, the itching can drive you nuts!

Yeah, a few of my friends have noticed how well made the knives are and like all the carry options their sheaths offer and have now bought them too. It's always a good feeling to enlighten someone :)

GREAT Pics, MW - thanks for giving us the riverfront tour - and for the eye candy!

RAT Pack # 177

Great pics man, I'm really enjoying your urban themed stuff

Thanks CID, glad you're enjoying it...I like all the different types of photographic opportunities I run across in the urban area here.

I am counting down the days to my retirement date so I can do this kind of thing every day!

You take great picks mist,thanks!

Thanks Grim, glad you liked them.

Ha...you have about 8 more than I do...and even less of a chance of S.S. still existing...., and I haven't even bothered to start counting yet.

I am glad to see your pics with the HEST in hand. My hand is about the same size as yours, and I was wondering how it would fit. I can't wait....I get mine in about a week.
