Another "vs" type post: Ontario Kukri vs Ontario SP8 machete vs RTAK II...

But as has been stated elsewhere many times, the 9 is a GREAT large "1 knife" ei, if I had one knife ect...
I've just been pondering something a bit more "choppy" for ~$70-$80.

Ditto. To that end (and for WAY below budget) I purchased an Ontario GI machete, and a Tramontina 14" Bolo machete. From what I've read, a good machete will out chop even the expensive customs. I chose those two machetes to compare the heavy duty US approach against the thinner/faster Brazilian construction.

Yeah! I got myself a tram 14" bolo, modded a parang-ish tip to it and gave it a convex grind with a 1500 grit polish on the edge. It's sweet! But I while think it's a superb brush killer, I'm not sure how it'd do in downing anything over 4", much less process it. (I could be wrong, and I'd be willing to try sometime!)

My bk9 is great, but it's simple physics really, the Rtak2, OCK kukri and the SP8 are longer, heavier, and for the most part thicker, so despite how much nicer the ergos are on the 9, I think the others WILL out chop my nine, and dominate any South American machete. Has anyone put the RTAK2 head to head with either the Kukri (OCK variety) or the BK9???
