I have an Anso 742 titanium frame lock that is fairly thick and substative. 4" blade 9" OAL. The blade at time is difficult to close from the lock position. It sticks. Perhaps that happens because I like to flip the blade open. I have tried to loosen it off by opening and closing it several times. Is this something that can be fixed? Is there someone stateside that can deal with this so I don't have to send it to Denmark? I can still walk away from the purchase of this knife. If it is fixable I would like to keep it. Any suggestions appreciated in advance!

You mean the lock-face sticks to the blade tang when you open it?

If thats it, it needs to be carbidized.

In the mean time try rubbing some pencil lead or marking the lockface with a sharpie, that should help out.

If you are on the USN, there is a directory of knife modders and it has a carbidizing section.

**If you can't find anybody, I have a bud that has done this service for me many times. I can send you his email**

"You mean the lock-face sticks to the blade tang when you open it?" Yes that's what's going on. I will try the methods you recommend. Can I have your friend's email address please. Is it costly to carbidize the tang? Thank you!

I've always had positive results with putting Sharpie on the blade right where the lock face sets. A few coats and let it sit for a minute and you should be good. You may have to reapply it every so often but it only takes a couple of minutes to do. Better than sending off if it doesn't need it.

Of course, if that or pencil lead doesn't work for you send it off.

Titanium is much softer than hardened steel, so it causes the locf-face to stick. Most makers will either carbidize the Ti, or like Chris Reeve heat-treat the Ti lockface.

I sent you a PM. We'll get you fixed bud, no worries.

Nothing I hate more on a Ti knife than a sticky lock-face :)
