Ive been wondering for awhile, and ive done a few anso patterns on some g10 and micarta. but how do you guys do you'r anso patterning? do you use a dremel or file do you make a large or small anso pattern? im just curious as to how the rest of the knife making community does it. as i tend to use a dremel to do the rough work and once i get close i use a file(its surprising how fast you can ruin a nice handle or blade with powertools) and i usualy do a medium anso pattern. what do you guys do exactly?

its the handle design on this spyderco here. alot of guys on the forums here use it as it looks fantastic!

I just use files. Then again, I don't have a dremel. So I just use a triangular file to mark the area, and then file it with a round file.

I might try that. ive been trouble getting a really large anso pattern for awhile, and when i do it on g10 theres always like. white specks in it? almost looks like dried epoxy or something(although its not) maybe that will fix it. it really bothers me though because i have to sand it out and it makes the anso pattern like rounded so it looks like veins kinda?(example pic on a knife im making sorry for the crappy quality)

I made this one for a client by using a 3/4" small wheel on by grinder

I was wondering. By grinding some of the handle material off would that not make the scale mre prone to breakage?

I corrected the wheel size...that one is 3/4"

Wrap your sand paper around a rod smaller than hole sixe and go to each one with say 220, 400, 600, 800, 1000, and then some soft buffing or maybe not and you will end up will clean looking grooves. Frank
