Anti-depressant.

I know I would not have been able to get through the darkest times in my life if I hadn't my faithful girl with me.

Good 'n

"Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way
Do not go gentle into that good night."

A nice story Carl, skillfully crafted, a pleasure to read, as always :)

Thank you for that story, a great read in the morning. I just have a "new knife like the one the man in the story carries. I doubt I use the blades untill halfworen as I have about ten more pocketknifes I rotate but Im also sertain I will keep it for the rest of my life if not one of my sons come to like it, in that case it may change owner to other loving and for me beloved hands.

Im soon to be 50 and this kind of thoughts once in a while comes in my mind and your story talks to me on several dimentions. Im so satisfied with my life now with house, great jobb, fantastic family, all things I need but in the same time its a sort of melancoli inside me longing for the old woods with cows and horses on summereating and the old trails from past times still very visable on the ground.

Great story Carl
Over here depression runs in the family and you don't want to know the problems and hardship I've gone through (and still goin' through) the past couple of years.
I'm trying to slowly but surely crawl back up and this story gave me yet another much needed kick in the butt.
Thanks;)

I've yet to find any man made building that can begin to compete with the woods for any spiritual contemplation...

I couldn't agree more. I remember hiking way up in the Austrian Alps a few summers ago, and seeing a quaint little chapel set out on a ledge that over-looked a stunning mountain valley. Truly one of the most impressive mountain vistas I'd ever seen. I kept thinking how odd it was for anyone to go into that tiny, dark building to find God, and that it was a bit like pitching a tent on the floor inside a magnificent cathedral and then crawling inside.*

* 'Course then I remembered how cold winters are in the Alps and it made at least some sense. ;)

I've yet to find any man made building that can begin to compete with the woods for any spiritual contemplation, and most dogs I've known have been better company that a lot of people I've known. There is no truer being than your dog.

I wholeheartedly agree. Thanks for another nice story.

Great story, as always. It took me back a few years, back then whenever I was depressed I would head off to sit by the side of a river and think about whatever was bothering me. Great reminder that nature can be the best cure for so many things. Steven
