Antifreeze

I think the red stuff is for newer cars that are specifically made to use it. As for older cars, stick with the green.

Long life (Red) is 5 years/150,000 miles between changes. It has a different corrosion inhibitor than the green. Don't mix the two. Use on or the other and use what the manufacturer states.
Ethylene glycol doesn't wear out but the corrosion inhibitors do.

green = regular
red= long life antifreeze, also used for food grade applications such as intransit heat for food grade tankers. You can use the two togather but you lose the long life additave when you mix the two different types togather.

The red stuff is also used in high output IOT (Inductive Output Tube) UHF transmitters - stuff on the order of 50,000 to 250,000 watts. The chief difference is the addition of corrosion inhibitors of in contact with lots of copper.

After our stuff is de-rated (the corrosion inhibitors begin to degrade,) farmers like to get it for use in farm equipment or light aircraft. Cheap disposal for me when I've got 250-500 gallons at a time to go away. ;)

One is for autobots, the other for decepticons. :thumbup:

The red crap lasts longer,,,,,goes in chevies, more corrosion resistant,,,,,,everything else takes the green stuff,,,,,,,does'nt matter what you use as long as you change it every once an a while .40,000 for the green ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, claimed 100,000 for the red ..... would'nt let it go that long

Green is better, it doesn't make the "mud" that reds does.

When red gets low, or develops an air pocket, the vapors given off by the red condense into this brown, mud like goop. Green doesn't do that. I convert cars over to green whenever people mix the two, green is better and cheaper.:D Green tastes better too.

Purely out of curiosity, what applications do you use 50-250Kw UHF radios for?

Isn't the red actually orange for chevy's :confused: There is a red anti freeze that protects RV's when you winterize them, or any other type of plumbing toilets, drains etc. Just my .02 worth :confused:

GM uses red in all their vehicles, they switched over in 1996. With the exception of the Pontiac Vibe, that has Ford yellow...:rolleyes:
