My wife dragged me shopping yesterday, but all was not lost! I found this hiding on a shelf with cheesy knives and various knick knacks at a shop:

The box was interesting, but what was inside was stunning!

The maker is Joseph Rodgers and sons, check out the engraving on the tang of the razors:

The scales of the razors and the knife are ivory, and I think the bands on the razors are shell. Here is a look at the tools:

The owner of the shop told me his dad had passed and he was running the shop now, and as a result he couldn't give me any info on this set. I think it is an amazing piece of history and was quite a fortunate find!

Wow Ernie! Absolutely fantastic find, a beautiful gentleman's reticule, wonderful. I am thrilled for you, congratulations

I have a few Rodgers Quill Knives, could you take a close-up of the tang-stamp?

What an excellent find!:cool: Sometimes a shopping trip with the wife turns into a treasure hunt and you scored.

An amazing find Ernie, you don't find complete sets often and such a beautiful set it is. Congrats

Best regards

Robin

Very nice find. Could you take a picture of one the blade of one of the razors? I have never seen one before with a swedge before.

That is so neat. Makes me wonder what stories that set could tell. Or better yet, what stories that set heard! ha Thanks for the post.

Congrats, Ernie!:thumbup: You found yourself a treasure chest for sure!!

Absolutely stunning!! This one will be fun to research its history! If your of a mind, I for one, would love to see more detail of the nail file and tweezers:D

Let me add my congratulations! That is a stupendous find. I hope you gave your wife a big hug and told her you'd go antiquing with her anytime!

I'd like to see a close-up of the Quill knife tang, too.

Ernie, you should try to find out who Thomas Wilson was. If the piece was a presentation to an American for service in the US, the value could sky rocket.

Great find.

Best regards

Robin

To score just one of those blades would be a great find. To find a whole kit is outstanding! Congrats! :thumbup:Love old kits with all their customized places for everything to sit.

👍👍👍

(Everything else is redundant for me to say, except I'll admit my healthy jealousy! Fantastic for you, and U.S. As knife collectors as a whole to have it safe and appreciated!)

That set is one of the most impressive Joseph Rodgers sets I have seen in a long long time, you need to put this in Wellingtons Thread, this set of yours is what I would call without exaggeration a Museum Piece.
