Antler, car spring, and titanium!?!?

Here's one for fun. A 4" blade I forge out of a car's coil spring. Fittings are 416 stainless and blue anodized titanium.

Does it work?

Steve, Very sweet little blade!! Looks like it'd make a good Bird & Trout knife. I agree that the splash of color from the Ti dresses it up nicely and I especially like the texture of the stag.

(edit to add) BTW, the photo is nicely composed and executed. Did that one get made under your translucent tub diffuser or have you gone "high tech" on us??

Great Steve! That is one cool cookie. The blue really sets it off with a nice color/tech contrast to the stag. And what Nitin said: did you finish all the parts then annodize and reassemble? Or how'd you do that?

I've got to agree, the blue adds on heck of a nice touch to the whole piece. Though, it could stand on it's own with out the color also. That's a nice looking piece and I like the way you did the stag handle. Very cool. Gotta get a "Sando" knife.

To answer the questions:

The photo was the simple old technique of taking the picture near a few windows (not in direct sun) and using white poster board to reflect the light back in.

Rokjok, I should have used the 'box'. The ferrule looks like it don't mate up well with the antler. It does. It's hidden in shadows. The box would have lowered the contrast.

RE: the titanium.

Everything was annodized at the very end. It's hard to mirror polish titanium, but after annodizing it's worth it.
