First post here. Just want to say thank you guys for all the good info.

Anyway, do you guys treat you stag before or after attachment to the tang? I have heard of staining for added color but anything for stability, chemical or otherwise? Is it really just as simple as shape > glue/screw/rivet > use?

All I do is get all the pith out and go for it. I might stain, depends on the cut.

Potassium Permanganate will turn the antler a dark brown on drying...it is purple in solution with water ...don't worry.
