I dont know if this has been posted before but I thought it was a neat idea.

In order to collect shed antlers a little bit easier I read about the construction of an antler trap. What you do is make a "V" with a goat type fence. The point of the "V" should wrap around the tree. The two ends should be about 2 to 3 foot apart an held with posts so when the deer walks in the antlers catch on the fence and fall off. Oh yeah, put some corn or something next to the tree so the deer has some incentive to go into the trap.

I have never made this nor do I know the legality of in different areas but as I said I thought it was an interesting idea.

I would think you would have to be really careful about when you do it or you might end up with a skeleton to go with your antlers.

Here is a couple of pics of what I was talking about.

Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of shed hunting? I mean I'm no expert in it but isn't half the fun roaming through the woods and trying to find them at random?

The above quote really cracked me up, thanks :D

In theory, it sounds good I guess. As Cuts like a Kris stated, the timing is important. Keep us posted...if you try it. :)
