I'm picking one up for the truck glovebox in a few days. Kinda neat setup, i know its not boutique steel, but its damn sharp out of the box ( played with it at Lee valley tool).

integrated Swedish Firesteel with a folder blade.....might be a good blade/firesteel to give to coworkers or that hiker who is never prepared.

i'll post up a review afte ri get it my grubby lil hands.....

House of Knives used to carry them. I think the brand name is Tool Logic.

Never handled one, though.

I see those on different stores and what not. I think you'd be better off buying a Mora and LMF Firesteel or a firesteel blank as it would be cheaper.

i've handled one before, and the fit and finish seems decent.

its not really my bag, i prefer all of my tools seperate/modular so that i can mix and match them a little more easily. the serrations are also a turnoff for me.

it would make a good little backup knife though to keep in a glove box or to give to a buddy coming into the woods with you for a weekend etc...

looking forward to a review!

I bought my eight-year-old Son the one that's got the little LED flashlight on top, rather than the firesteel, and I'll admit I'm impressed by the fit and finish. They were apparently made in Japan at one time, but now are made in either China or Taiwan (can't recall which). Nonetheless, while skeptical at first, it's a neat little folder. His does have the whistle on the butt-end, which is kinda cool. He sure likes it, and that's what matters.

Professor.

I handled one of these once. unfortuneately it was before I knew much about knives, so all I can tell you was that it was flipping sharp

I have one of the older Japan made Sl-3 models, for the under $30 price its not a bad little knife,it comes with the LMF scout fire steel.a built in whistle and as previously stated a half serrated blade. wich is not my favorite. but there is still enough plain edge to make it useable in an emergancy, also if your not happy keeping your firesteel with the kinfe you can pop it out and keep seperatly. than put a mini-mag solitare in its place. (fire & light) its also nice in urban survival situations like when your in one of those under ground parking garages, it dosent look like a knife its a flashlight in your hand it wont scare the sheep with the one hand opening you have a razor sharp knife.for defence if necessary.

i got a chance to handle one while travelling australia. my buddy had brought it with him for our hiking adventures and it seems to work alright. i'm not a big fan of serrations but the knife fills the hand well.

I've got one. It is made by tool logic and is a combo knife/flashlight/firesteel/whistle. It sits in my maxpediton versipack. I can't honestly say I've ever used it as I always carry a better knife, a better firesteel, a better flashlight and a better whistle. I view it more as an emergency back-up use item or, more likely, one that I'll loan out to a friend who forgot/lost his knife or flashlight or firesteel or whistle. Multiuse item and I do like that about it. It seems well made.

I have one the wife and kids gave me a couple of years ago for Christmas. Decent enough. The blade doesn't through real good sparks with the firesteel, but it would do in most situations. The serrations only function for me is to throw more sparks. Like go2ndAmend, I have it in my pack as a back-up.

I have one I got for Christmas a few years back. I have it tucked in my 3x5x3 survival kit for weekend trips.

The knife comes very sharp, and lockup feels sturdy enough, especially considering how thin the liner is, and that it's in a plastic handle.

The steel and storage sheath is actually removable from the top of the knife by loosening a screw, but the whole package is so lightweight, and seemed sturdy enough that I just tucked the whole thing into my kit.
