Been dreaming about getting something like this ever since my first attempt at forging something on my 55 lb Harbor Freight ASO (anvil shaped object). Got a call back from an ad I answered in the papershop while sitting on a stump on opening day of deer season (God I love my cell phone!). A little surreal sitting in the woods wispering to this guy about the anvil. He had allready been offered more than he was asking by a dealer, but bless his heart, wanted to see it go to somebody who would actually USE it. When he found out I was a knifemaker, that sealed the deal....
It is (I believe) a 300LB Kohlswa. The only marking I have ben able to find so far (many layers of rustolium) is the word Sweden. The top is flat, the edges are just about perfect, and It was all me and another guy could do to get it out of the trunk.
I'm in love! Anybody else have one of these or know anything about them. I've done some research on Anvilfire.com, but haven't yet talked to anyone who owns one. My only complaint so far, is that I lie awake nights thinking about the next thing I'm going to forge on it! :D

And next year you'll be forging knives while your on the deer stand !!!!

Nice score dude. You can't beat a good anvil, and it sounds like you got a pretty good deal on this one.

One of my anvil has Made in Sweden on it plus a 9 underneath. I haven't been able to find anyother marking. Mine is cast tool steel and there's a good possibility yours is to. You got yourself a keeper. Does it have a real loud ring?

Raymond, the ring is clear but not as loud as the Hay Budden. It's cast steel, and supposedly quite hard (they advertize 55-57 rockwell). The edges have more of a tendency to chip than most so I plan to be real careful about that.
