Hello folks, kind of a long story but it's a good one.
I work for a pretty large natural gas utility company. right now the entire plant is being replaced and up dated to north of $23,000,000. our welder is getting his own new building also. his normal job is welding steel pipeline and tapping fixtures but he welds a lot of other stuff and fabricates a lot in his shop.

His boss came to me saying they want to buy an anvil for the new shop. he also added that price is no option, he wants big and bad-ass. ...I was speechless.
he's looking on the web but I told him don't pull the trigger on anything yet, let me ask around. everyone in this company knows I make knives so he's coming to me for input.
I do stock removal so I figured this would be a good place to get some opinions.

This gas company is owned by the city, so although my company would cut the check, the city will look at it like they are paying for it, so no ebay or craigs list.
it has to be brand new. personally I'm looking at least #200 with a single horn and square back.
can anyone here recommend a good anvil and company with a website that I could start narrowing this down? Thanks.
P S...I'm half way to convincing our welder into building a gas forge too..with free gas!

http://www.nimbaanvils.com/ would be my suggestion. small company making the best anvils these days. USA made, each one inspected by the owner before being sold, you really won't find a better quality product. I love my Titan from them. They do usually have a wait list though, so if time is of concern i would contact them asap to find out if it would work for your employer or not.

Peddinghaus and Rathole are a couple others.
Its kind of sad, Doubt they will be forging much at all. That anvil will likely see far more general shop use as just a big steel block to get whanged up from pounding on stuff on rather than hotwork forging.

Nimba was my first thought as well. They are fully hardened so you could even forge on the anvil foot if you wanted.

I have a Rigid Peddinghaus. I’m very pleased with it. I’d think for your criteria it’s a good fit because it’s readily commercially available new from multiple suppliers. You are likely to be able to find a place you can purchase that is business friendly (can use a purchase order etc.)

Thanks for the replies guys, the ridged peddinghaus looks like it would be a good fit for his shop.
also Grainger's carries them, there right up the road and we deal with them on an almost daily basis, so it would be easy to procure.
It is kind of sad that it won't be seeing much forging but on the bright side, another anvil would be coming out to the work world.
This welder keeps a really clean shop - by welder standards - and any of the idiots that work here aren't generally welcome in his shop, so it shouldn't get damaged.
And like I said were discussing building a natural gas forge for his shop so some knives may actually get made during breaks, lunch, and after hours.... things are looking good.
what ever we end up getting, I'll post pictures.
