There's an older gentleman near me who buys and sells old tools. I stop by every now and then as he usually has some blacksmithing stuff. I was there this Thursday and he had some nice anvils. Thought I'd mention them here, see if I could hook somebody up with something nice to bang on.
The two best ones are : a 177 lb Hay Budden in very nice shape that he's asking 310.00 for. The other is a Peter Wright which is 196 lbs and he's asking 395.00 for that one. This one's also in nice shape. Both are flat with pretty good edges and no major dings that I noticed. Both ring like bells.
He also had some others that he had had reworked. One is another Peter wright and weighs 112 lbs. He's asking 190.00 for that one. I believe the other is another smaller Hay Budden, but I'm not sure of the price on that one.
If I had a few extra hundred buck lying around, I'd probably buy these myself, but no such luck at present.
Anyway, if anybody's interested let me know. I took some pics with my camera phone. I can't post them here as I let my paid membership lapse, but if you PM me I can email them to you, let you know how to get in touch etc.
