anvil over all question

hi i had a quick question about anvil weight , if you take a light anvil and secure it to something heavy can you get away with a light anvil? so it would look like this.

Yes, it helps.
A lot of the good action that an anvil has comes from the hardness of the top face.
That said, the bigger the better.

The best anvil to use is the biggest one that you have.
