anvil question

just picked up a Trenton usa anvil stamped 158.has a number on the foot stamped a438,my question is where do I find the year and is the 158 the poundage,also scored a western royal chief blower in great shape,thanks
 
The book Anvils in America might have more information about the date of manufacture. The 158 should be the weight, though the marked weight is never 100% accurate and you can expect it to be somewhat lighter.

Post some pics of your scores.

158 should be the approximate weight as already stated. I have never used a Trenton but a buddy of mine has one and seems to like it. As far as dating I know very little about Trenton's due to not having one. I have spent most of my time researching mousehole and Peter wrights.
