Can anyone tell me what I've got here? No experience with anvils, so I just took a chance and got it. By the way, it says 100, but I believe that means 100Kg (220 lbs).

More pics if helpful. Thanks for any guidance.

More pics would indeed be helpful, if only to satisfy my curiosity. It looks "crooked" from the front. Is the face level?

The determination of whether or not it's a score comes from checking the rebound. If you have a large (3/4-1") ball bearing, drop it on the face. How high does it rebound? If you don't have a large BB, take a small ball-pien hammer and gently hold the end of tha handle between two fingers about 4" from the anvil. Then, drop the pien end of the head onto the anvil. Observe the rebound. Does it bounce well or not? The better the rebound, the better the anvil as it will bounce your hammer back up from your work and save you a lot of energy.

Decker, yes, it is square - probably the wide angle lens playing tricks.

It had a cutter (or something) in the Hardie hole when I bought it - but that walked away before I was able to pick it up.

Along with it, I got the propane forge, 20 pound tank, four hammers, 7 tongs, a box and a half of soft fire brick, some hard fire brick and a bag of refractory cement. Of course, I have no where to set it up yet but..........

Soon. ;)

The forge looks pretty professional. Apparently, the floor hardbrick can just be driven out and replaced when required

Thanks all.

I wonder if I could set the forge and anvil up as moveable so I could just roll them out to work on. hmmmmm.... Maybe a small smithy out at the acreage..... Things that make ya go hmm, hmm, hmm. :)
