Here is a Peter Wright anvil that I have been using for the past few years but upgraded to a larger one. The markings on the side are 1 1 7 which I believe makes it 147 pounds. The top is flat and there are no chips in the edges. For local pick up only, I don't want to package this one to ship.

Nice Peter Wright you've got there, the edges look quite good. You're bang on about your weight calculation 1 1 7 = (112) + (28) + (7) = 147lbs. I have a 134lber just like this (1 - 0 - 22) and its perfect for small / medium work. This is a good deal, they don't make them like this anymore!

Can you explain to me how those number came about please?

Its the old British system of weights. The first number is "hundred weights" which is 112lbs. The second number is "1/4 hundred weights" which is 28lbs. The third number is just pounds. So an anvil marked 2 2 2 would be (224lbs + 56lbs + 2 lbs) = 282lbs
