Anvils and such

Thank you looks like I made a mistake. I thought this was a make it forum not a play with it. I was looking to rehome some goodies.

You Can sell.....with certain membership levels

I have a couple old anvils along with a couple forges that need a home. I mistook this for a place that actually makes blades.

There are a lot of knifemakers on this site.

And there are a few subforums here specifically for them-

https://bladeforums.com/forums/shop-talk-bladesmith-questions-and-answers.741/

I see six threads on just the first page of this subforum with the word "anvil" in the titles-

https://bladeforums.com/forums/hammer-tongs.896/

And there's a place here to sell gear-

https://bladeforums.com/forums/for-sale-gadgets-and-gear-individual.764/

It can pay to look around the forum a bit and ask some questions before coming to a conclusion. I don't believe that there is a more all-encompassing knife forum on the internet than this one. Chances are pretty good that any knife-related topic that one can think of is represented here.

EDIT: I was typing as you posted l1ranger.

Nope just don't want to pay for the off chance that someone might be interested in old anvils and forge.

Sad to see another dieing art. Kids today just seem to want to play with their cell phones.
Oh geez, have you even looked around here at all before spouting off? The knife industry is huge and we have a lot of talented makers on here selling their products, discussing techniques and giving advice to new and existing knife makers.

I think it's the exact opposite. Between YouTube tutorials, the online availability of tools, equipment, materials, and guidance, and the online marketplace for handmade custom knives, I think the art of knife making is very much alive and well. Perhaps even bigger than it's ever been before.

I can also think of one very popular tv show about knife forging which I'm sure is inspiring many people to try their hand at knife making.

Probably true since you are on the internet.

What I did to get rid of a mess of old anvils was stack them up on the porch of the Bugtussle General Store and Dry Goods with a hand painted sign that said "Free to a Good Home" They were all gone before harvest. True story.

No I am not going through thousands of threads. I did go to see what was for sale and what was wanted did not see much of a desire to justify paying to find a home for a lifetime collection. Others just pile them on the porch. I see hundreds of views but no serious smith's I did not mean to upset or hurt any little feeling we are just in different places all the best.

Speaking of hurt feelings, you seem to be upset at what you perceive to be a forum that is not going to prove to be an immediate dumping ground for your old anvils. Honestly, shipping would most likely be cost prohibitive anyway, why not put an ad in your local paper, or take 'em to a pawn shop?

When you know not of what you speak your mouth is best used for chewing.
