If the 4 or 5 inch hunk of steel is a foot or two long, put it on end in a drywall bucket of concrete. a 4X4X12 block weighs 55#, 5X5X12 weighs 85#.
 
The last one i saw was a large plate a couple square feet of it 4 or 5 inches thick, to heavey for me to lift and to thick for me to cut unless i was really desperate. But its good to know incase i see another at my local scraping spot. Thankyou.
 
If it a a big 4-5" wide block, set it on edge. a 4X8X12 block weighs 110#. Set it so the face is 4X8.
