Any advice on making a hamon for a knife

I'm making another knife and for this one I want to make a hamon so all advice will be welcome

make sure you use a steel that can get a hamon like W2, W1, 1095 and 1075

What steel are you working with? that will drastically affect the hamon you can acheive.

I was planning on using w2

I used W2 with pretty good results. My advice would be to watch out so that you do not over etch a blade. I did that with my first one.

The only advise I can give you is to practice, it's not easy getting a nice active hamon on a consistent basis.
