any assisted spydies in the works

Spyderco's are just fine the way they are. Theres an old saying that goes like this "when your on a good thing stick to it"

+1 on what many have said. Kershaw makes terrific knives, with excellent AO's. The Spyderhole, however, is all that I really need to open a knife.

I only bought one AO knife, ever, and it was a very expensive one, the titanium and ZDP-189 Kershaw Cyclone. The AO, broke within a week and the entire action was ruined. No thanks.

I can certainly say I am surprised by the hatred for AO I have two leeks mainly becuase I like the design, the AO is a neat gadget bonus. I personally would like to see what spyderco could come up with as I am sure they could come up with something more reliable than kershaw.

Not hatred, mostly just well reasoned disinterest. The extra complexity and cost an AO mechanism would add to an already easy to open Spyderco knife take away the whatever bit of entertainment the "neat gadget factor" provides.

This isn't about the post but what is the knife in your avatar.
I'm not Phil, but that sure looks like the custom double bladed Civilian  (Civilian Dyad?) that's been seen here and on the Spyderco factory forum occasionally. Talk about impractical things with a ton of neat gadget factor. :D

That's a double Civilian which Phil was making for a while. Exquisite custom construction. Phil offset the blades when they fold to keep the knife thinner. After a little practice, it opens with a "thwack" exposing both blades.

How could I acquire one of these knives?

That would be stupid concidering you can get one with the wave system which is faster than any auto or a/o knife. It just wouldnt be spyderco.
