I was just searching the forums on my monday off with my new computer stero system that was hooked up by my dad, a long time audiofile who has recently gotten me into sound systems.:D And I wondered if there were any audiofiles out here on the forums.

Unfortunately, yes. I say unfortunately because it's too easy to spend entirely too much on gear ;)

My dad's stuff all custom built by him self with a 3-4W 300B Single Ended output amp through Tamura's best output transformers into TAD 1602 woofers (19Hz Fs, but we can only get 35Hz for some reason), Gauss 4008 midrange and JBL clone highs

Creek 4330 integrated and Red Rose R3's here... Sources are my xbox, cable box, and ibook....

Not sure if I count, but I have either (until I decide) a NAD 3045 or a Rotel RA-840BX driving a pair of Klipsch Heresys. Thorens TD280 table, Pioneer 9500-II tuner, Teac 1500 reel deck, and the rest of the stuff isn't too interesting.

I’ve drawn the line in the sand: Rega and B&W, and nothing else.

Likewise. Stopped throwing money into the bottomless pit of tubes. Now Rega and Epos. Wish Rega or NAD would make a nice sounding upscaling DVD player though.

I quit cold turkey. I sold off everything 5 years ago and have listened to a simple British system ever since. I now listen to the music instead of the equipment.

Sold off much of my stuff because I truly believe I have tin ears. I really can't hear any difference between my system or a 20k+ system. (not that I don't want to hear any difference but I really can't) So, I just enjoy the music.
Just a simple 2 channel system left and it's hand me downs or stuff bought really cheap.
Audiosource amp three >Tandberg 3002 pre amp>NAD 515>Pro Ject 1.2>Soliloquy 5.0>Grado SR80

The day I quit was a day concerning a heated argument about the audibility of digital cables. Digital cables, of course, carry data not music so there is no audibility involved in digital cables. There is nothing to hear until the data is converted to waveforms. The insanity of that belief finally made me give it up.

I could deal with the Korean guys and their magic discs that they would place on components. I could even deal with people believing they could hear power cables. But when they started hearing "data" I couldn't stand it any longer. I enjoy music listening a lot more these days.

I don't really listen to my system anymore. I have top of the line equipment as I used to be into it.
My electronics.....Krell
My speakers.......Vienna Acoustics

I enjoy good audio. My system: NAD C541i CD player, NAD C370 integrated amp and NHT ST4 floor standing speakers. I don't have it set up now due to a lack of space and have been listening to a shelf system :barf: . Hopefully, I can move to a bigger place soon and get it set back up.

I'm pretty loyal to NAD for mid fi equipment. They serviced a HT receiver that was 2 yrs out of warranty. To prove I have tin ears, I had a NAD T751 for over five yrs and everyone who came by to listen to it always heard some distortion on one channel. I always assumed it was either a bad recording or cables or anything other that the receiver.
Was selling a pr of Monitor audio floorstanders and every potential buyer heard it, I must be deaf. They ALL thought the speakers were bad. Until an experienced sound guy came and and heard it right away. Hooked up a cd player directly to my amp and the distortion was gone. It must of been the NAD's pre amp section. So, all those previous buyer's missed out on a great pr of Monitor Audio's.
Explained my situation to NAD and they said to send it in. Anyway, got it back and sold it. Got myself an Ipod with the proceeds.

I haven't bought any audio gear since the kids!

so its a bit historic.

Garrard 401, SME 3009 arm, some Ortofon cartridge, all on a solid plywood plinth I made myself: Weighs about 50lb.

Cambridge Audio CT50 cassette deck

Audiolab 8000a amp.

Meridian 206 CD player

Arcam Alpha tuner

Heybrook HB1 speakers on Heybrook stands with Heywire bi-wire cable.

The Heybrook speakers are really optimised for vinyl and can sound a bit spitty with CD's.

Meridian makes some very high end gear now.
Yeah, the 206, even though its from the "budget" 200 range, is my most expensive piece of kit. I had it serviced by Meridian a couple of years ago - I could have bought a half-decent machine for the cost! - but its working perfectly now, in spite of its age.

The 206 looks like the 208 on this page.
