any australians in here who has purchased a knife online?

im looking into getting a bt&k brute into the country(australia), has anyone here purchased a knife of that size online? were there any problems with customs?
 
I've seen several posts about the ridiculous costs of knives in Australia, and the big customs troubles. How much does it cost to purchase a knife from overseas and have it shipped to Australia? I think I've seen some Australians post that it almost costs the same. Maybe we US posters can help out those from overseas.
 
some knives such as the brute isnt readily available, thats the reason why im buyying it from the US.


postage is $US24-29 (insured)


in general i save about $AUS 50-100 buying from america


eg and sog seal 2000 is 365 in australia, thats about US180

if i imported, it would cost me AUS260 to import given the blade is $us100(normal price) plus $us30(aus60) for postage and handling


the only trouble with customs is that u can import concealables, flick blades and other blades that are used for weapons.

i have no plans to use my knives as a self defence weapon or have plans to stab anyone, so there4 shouldnt be any problems.






back to my question, has anyone imported from the US?
