Any Bare Tang Pictures?

Have you tried drilling the tang for pins? If so, how hard was the tang?

Has anyone tried having an extension or broader tang welded on?

Steve I have drilled and pinned a BirGhorka Villager, no problem at all and the tang is dead soft as they should be.

Never had an extension or broader tang welded on but did have one that had broken off welded back on.
There were a rash of broken knives that year, Uncle Bill layed the fault on the Dasien Holiday and the kamis getting in a hurry and splashin water on the hot tangs when hardening the blade.
The appearance of the broken steel confirmed what Uncle Bill said.
My cousin welded the tang back on and then annealed it thereby insuring it wouldn't break again.
It was a 21" Sirupati that had broken and the break was about 1/2"-5/8" back from the intersection of the blade and tang so it wasn't in a stress factor area.

Interesting. I made a Puukko and intended to peen the end of the tang. All went well until the peening started. The tang was too hard. Now I'll test the tang first. If it's too hard it can be heated with the blade in water and it will soften.

Gnome khuks could be a new and lucrative market for HI. But can gnomes take out zombies?

Maybe not, but they'd be great as a first line of defence - by chopping up the zombies' knees, the gnomes make sure that the zombies turn into slow-moving targets.
