Any BK15 owners?

Perhaps THE most AWESOME steak knife EVER......Also great at most camp chores that do not involve heavy lifting or hard batonning.....There is a reason the blade's designer The GREAT Jerry Fisk has such a tremendous following in the custom knife world......His blades WORK !!!...... My apologies for the superlatives but, Jerry does that to me.....LOL......Somebody in the group oughtta have one ......

Amen to this. My kitchen help carries one and it usually is the most used.

Wolfy doesn't baton. I've been running around in the woods all my life in all weather in all four seasons and I've never had to do it. If I need to split kindling, that's what a hatchet is for. Or a Khukri. So when I look at a knife, its ability to cleave firewood isn't at the top of my requirements.

I do want my knives to be reasonably rugged. I'm more interested in cutting ability. In that regard, my Beckers have always made me happy. The BK-5 and BK-15 especially. They are lean mean slicing machines.

Hey Wolf......

How much did the Tooj pay you to post your last.....LOL........Tooj HATES the very concept of batonning.......LOL.....

i dont mind a bit of batoning at all for say a cooking fire but heck i have never in my 30 plus years had trouble finding dtuff in the forest here too burn for a regular ole camp fire lol!

For most of human history we used knives of stone, obsidian, or bone.

I just can't picture a CroMagnon hunter batoning a log with a flint knife. But we know they survived because we're here today.

Right now my collection consists of my 9 and my 11, and thats it. I think a 15 would really balance it out but
I can't find one for under $70. Looks like a great knife though, I need something for meat because I make
a mean steak and I looove fish. I really like the handle design, looks comfortable. I think I'll save the batoning
for my 9 though ;)

Say Heah Guy's, Yeah I own a BK-15, Infact I own all three Tweeners. When I found out that the steel was the same as my CarbonV Steel I bought almost the complete Becker Series I got my info from zknives.com , I really like the Tailing Tip for carving and I included it with my BK-5 which I think is just as good of a. knife as my BK-7. The two complement eachother and I also added the BK-4 to this set since I call this set my Lite Set and the BK-4 fits right in as my chopper. I'm also thinking of getting the BK-21 to replace the BK-4 but I'm not in any hurry since the BK-4 does OK for now. I just make sure to keep my BK-4 sharp and I sharpened it in my Work Sharp and now it's sharp and chops much better. I alway's like a choil. I even had a Bushcraft Knife made by George K years ago, He knew I liked choils and I agree with Mors Kochanski that a bush craft knife should be a strong prybar that works wood good. Well George made me one just like what I wanted. At the time he made it for me from a Saw, and that was top of the line steel back then, The 4" blade is 3/16th's" thick and has a choil and it's scary sharp, because of the zero edge George put on it. I don't care what anyone says I never ran out of blade lenght because of the choil and I can choke up much better on the knife because of the choil, George K went by his G. E. K. Logo in a diamond. Anyhow, Yeah I would recommend a BK'S to anyone. Oh, that's one knife that Ethan Becker didn't design, I guess he doesn't like choils. But for me it's a great knife especially the way it complements itself with my BK-5 both match eachother and like I mentioned the BK-5 I find to work as good as my BK-7, So, Yeah a great Lite combo that I really enjoy using them in the bush. I just might add the BK-21 to my BK-9 and my BK-10 Set, the BK-9 is a good chopper in its own right, But with the BK-21 I think I'll be able to leave a axe or a hatchet behind, I'll have to check that out. Yeah, anyone thinking of getting a BK-15 I would strongly suggest getting the BK-5 with it. I think the trailing tip makes a great carver.and with a choil, you can really work wood with it.

Old thread but love me my BK15s - sadly not enough of the market apparently appreciates the useful genius of this knife.

Nope.....they kinda own me.

I want one so bad. Had the chance to buy some when KW had them heavily discounted and didn't do it. Now I'm kicking myself.

Just be patient and keep your eyes open. They pop up now and then on the Exchange....I saw one a couple weeks ago, for a fair price. At this point MSRP would be a fair price given how much win this blade has going for it and I briefly thought about grabbing it....but I already have more than I can hold in my two hands. Someone else is feeling the love instead.
Don't lose hope; all the ridiculous prices and flipping will die down at some point - it's not like there weren't a couple thousand made.....but if you don't have one, anything you might find for under a c-note would be well worth it, IMO. They're out there.

If I was that kinda smart and that kind of person, MD had them for less than $40 a year or two ago....shoulda bought as many as I could afford and scrounged up more $$ to buy them all, mwahahahahaha.....I'd be sitting pretty right now. Instead, I ordered one for a friend in a foreign land and stayed content with the 3 (or 4; recently found one I didn't know was in my possession - NTS when I bought it...) I already had. I'd post more pics but I don't want to rub anyone's nose in it.

All that said, the 15 was a sleeper, and I'm not surprised it got axed from the lineup. I didn't really want one until I spied a deal a few years ago on a user, so I snagged it. It's not "tactical" and it's not "bushcraft"; it has the kind of throwback classic lines that don't really scream "look at me!". But I have discovered that "classic" lines can be good. Jerry Fisk is no slouch as a designer and coupled with our fearless leader, Ethan, this blade just nails it. I just don't think trailing point designs are all that popular with folks, which is to their detriment.

One more from the day before yesterday:
