Whenever I am considering to buy a knife I always find myself checking on BladeReviews for a second opinion. How do you guys feel about the integrity of the reviews on that site?

I'm a big fan, Dan writes very concise and impartial reviews. He lacks the egoism that tends to pervade successful knife reviewers, and never seems to do anything purely for attention. He reviews knives he purchases so I haven't found him to be biased as a result.

He's a frequent host of the Gear Geeks Live podcast and from that you can get the impression that he's not one doing things to draw attention or controversy. Very measured. I think many reviewers could learn a thing or two from Dan when it comes to tact and professionalism.

I frequent that site regularly and have found the reviews to be on point for the knives I end up purchasing. If I look for knife reviews that's my preferred site besides here.

I totally agree with you that he is not an attention seeker which I admire! I think that streak of him buying all the knives he reviews has stopped though. He just put out a review today about the Gentleman Jim and apparently he got that knife from BladeFlick free of charge.

The ones here are better, and, I feel, less likely to be "unsolicited testimonials" from people who were gifted knives to review.

I enjoy his reviews, but I'm with Marci on this one.
I take most YT, and most other off site reviews, with a grain of salt.
The members here, writing their reviews, have purchased the knives and have no axes to grind.
If I'm interested in a blade I check here first.

I read them because I enjoy reading about knives, but I can't say I really base my purchasing decisions too much on any single reviewer (or reviews in general, for that matter.)

I enjoy Dan's reviews. Always well written, researched and imo fair.

Personally I think in order to avoid conflict of interest in a review, perceived or otherwise one should purchase the knives.

I watch them and I judge every reviewer according to how I perceive them. Some do a really good job and some are just boobs.

I do applauded all of them though just for the fact they are trying to help us out.

What people did before YouTube is beyond my imagination, o I forgot, they read something call a magazine, those people were so weird.

When I am in the market for a new knife or multi-tool, I read them all. After a couple of decades, I think by now I can sniff out the genuine from the BS reviews, and since there are few places near my location that have them on hand or knowledgeable people to consult, I'll take any information available. The interwebs is as good a place as any.

I'm with znapschatz on this. I'll take advantage of all the info I can get; besides, it's fun reading. :D Joe, I think you will find most folks here have axes to grind. ;)
