Any body actually still sharpen their EDC knives in "Oldschool" way?

I gave up on free hand sharpening:o
Just can't get the hang of it and my patience is gone just like the edges of one or two of my knives:mad:
So Spyderco Sharpmaker it is for me.
 
Last week I was in the woods and touched up my knife on a piece of chert rock I found (broke it against another rock to expose fresh material), then stropped it on a hickory branch. It worked pretty well...but I would not want to attempt a dry shave with it LOL.
