any bravo 1 users out there

Funny I didn't think much of the thumbramp to begin with but now I quite like that as well

What I don't like about the ramp is the angle you have to use when striking firesteel. It puts the butt of the knife against the ground or tinder..

For those that don't like the ramp, grind it off. I didn't care for it either. If you use a belt to grind it off, leave the "burr" on the spine just a little. You'll be amazed at how much better spark you'll get off your firesteel.

i love the Bravo-1.... i got mine last June, for my b-day... i think it's just a great all around design...
i need to make myself another sheath, i don't care for the kydex sheath it came with...

the thumb ramp doesn't bother me...:o

ha.. funny you say that... with the exception of todays rain, it'd been in the 60's-70's(mid-day)for the past week and a half or so... we have been having some crazy winter warm spell..

that spot is about a 10 min. walk from my from door... we have steelhead running through there as well..:D

i wish!!!!! ive been hiking for the last month with the average temp around 20F lake monroe is frozen from one side to the other. i have never seen the hole lake freeze before. last week i stopped on a bridge and watch little icebergs floating down stream the river final gave in to the cold and froze over to.

I like my Bravo 1 as well. It is a bit thick as a whittler but it is wicked on flesh and holds its edge very well. It is also fantastic at batoning wood for its size. I have had no problems with rust. It is lightly stained but I have no problems with that.

Never tried that as I still have a small hacksaw blade with my firesteel. Not saying your wrong, or what you are doing wrong. Just another way of doing things.
Maybe I'll give it a try and see how it works for me, but your way seems about right on how you would have to hold it

I use one when Im home from time to time. Have a buddy that is carrying one in Iraq

I also used mine for a short while in Iraq...perfect sized blade!

Jeff now has the Bravo-1 template for his awesome sheath (he bought one as well:D)

If you want to clean the patina off for some reason, I suggest using Flitz, a polish, instead of sandpaper. It take the patina off very quickly, and doesn't leave a bunch of scratches on the steel.

I own a a pair of Bravo 1's Both Green canvas micarta but one has red liners....One of my Favorite FB knives I own.... Stains/Patina shows character of the knife,I like it....

The B1 is my favorite as well, it's my go to. I can't really add much to the awesome feedback you've already received, but I've used mine on the beach in visible salt spray air and haven't yet had it rust in any way (I do wash and wipe down with mineral oil after outings). The A2 takes a mean edge and holds it well. As far as staining, haven't used it for food prep yet, but the patinas shown above look pretty good :) Haven't sanded the handle on mine yet either, but I'll probably do it soon. I love the shape of the handle (no hotspots, yet anyway) and the overall design of the knife.

I like the B1 so much, I just got a second as well in CPM154 w/o thumb-ramp (just arrived yesterday actually, haven't taken it outside yet). The thumb-ramp doesn't bother me as much as I initially felt it would, but it's nice to have a thump-ramp-less version.

I have had a Bravo 1 for about 7 months. I own several custom field / woods type knives and I can truly state that the Bravo 1 is most definetely the very best knife for the price.

I had the oppertunity to gut and skin a wild boar a while ago and the Bravo 1 performed the task with ease. The grip did not suffer any slipping even covered in blood. I was surprised at this.

If Bark River puts a DROP POINT (Kephart style) onto this blade as an option ..... the Bravo 1 might just be the ULTIMATE outdoors blade!

I do believe that I have seen one so modified.

I would bet Mike Stewart would do it for you.

I was lucky enough to get one of these on a passaround. I was very impressed by it's fit and finish not to mention it's functionality.

Great little knife worth every cent in my opinion.

Glad you are giving the Bravo a good home Eastr77. That knife is just too good looking for me to beat up. They are awesome cutters.

Eastr77, the standard Bravo-1 is A2; BRKT recently did a first production run in a powdered stainless steel (CPM154). You can check it out here. That tiger stripe one looks good:thumbup:.

What sort of snake is that? That must have been a nice surprise :)
