Hi all,

About 10-12 years ago I bought a Buck slipjoint at Dicks Sporting Goods. I want to say it was 3" or less. It came in a clamshell package. 39.99 listed price if my memory serves me correct. Wood scales. Three blades, I believe main clip, secondary spey and coping.

I was hoping to pick another one up as I lost this one years ago. It used to be my favorite EDC and I just can't find one. I don't know where to start. I can't even find a picture of one.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like a 303. Also known as a Cadet. Maybe 301, but the size sounds like a 303.

Thanks sqoon. I just googled for pics of both the 303 and 301. I want to say this one had a more symmetrical frame and more rounded, contoured bolsters.

To be more specific, I spent a few hours on the Buck website and browsed ALL current knives and could not find it. I also browsed a lot of the vendors and struck out there.

Thanks again.

A real expert should be along shortly. I tried. :)

That long ago and with wood scales it was probably one of the 700 series. They have been discontinued for some time. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge the picture.

Thanks! Here is a weird one for you guys. In the pic you posted the sheepsfoot is opposite to the main blade. I remember the spey blade being opposite. I just found one on the bay with the spey opposite. Any more info on particular era's of this knife? Maybe I will just look for a 10-12 year old one :)

Experts????

You can't swing a dead cat in this forum without hitting five or ten experts.

:D

If, however, the placement of blades is actually inexplicable.......chalk it up to Buck poetic license.

Strange things have happened in almost every knife line.

:)

I tell you what, I am glad I finally came here and asked you guys. I have done my own searching for years and never found it.

I appreciate it.

Here is the picture of the series thought you might too see

Plumberdv - I will do more searching now that I know what I am looking for, but just those two links are extremely helpful :)

nutoknives - I love knife pics, and that one inspires me to get a close match to my old EDC back in my pocket. Thanks!

Further searching is leading me to believe it may have been a 701 :)

I will let you all know what I end up with.

The 703 is the Colt and the 701 is the Mustang. If yours had the Sheepfoot blade facing the Clip, that occured in 86. When each blade was given its own back spring. These have a year date stamp with block lettering. Prior they had an old English script stamp and 440C polished steel blades. This was a upgrade knife to Buck's 300 series. This series ran from 79-99 offering many different handle materials. A great series. DM

Thanks David, you are always very helpful to me :)

I am looking for the right replacement but I think the search is going to take some time. That's okay, it will be fun looking :)
