Oregon Knife Collectors Association (OKCA) is having their annual big knife show in Eugene Oregon the weekend of April 12th and 13th. 360 tables of knife and knife related items for sale or on display. How many of you Buck guys will be there? This will be my first time attending and I understand Buck will have a display etc set up there. Looking forward to going this year and trying my best to save up a bit of spending money but every time I turn around there is another Buck knife I find I just can't say no to. Hope to see some of you there.

Yes. I plan to attend Sunday. Link to OKCA site for particulars on the show: http://www.oregonknifeclub.org/forms.html

It is well worth the cost of membership to attend members only Friday if you can get away because some scarce items will be gone by Saturday and Sunday.

I've attended every year this century and I'm looking forward to more. You will find gems before your eyes and all you have to do is pick them up before the guy standing next to you latches onto them.

I prepare a "hit list" and print a map of the table locations, filling in the key tables when the attendees information is available. Then I visit tables in order: Buck, the Reverend, BCCI and then Leroy. Then I wander.

It is a show put on by enthusiasts, staffed by enthusiasts and attended by enthusiasts which all combines to make it heavenly for enthusiasts. You can learn from the doorman and meet the makers.

Give this forum a search and you will find photos from past OKCA annual meets. Here is a link to last year's show: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...user-at-OKCA-Knife-Show-today!?highlight=okca I really hope that Chuck attends this year. He is terrific to talk with. I hope to see you there.

According to a friend of mine, Chuck probably won't be there as both a Cabellas and a Bass Pro Shops are having grand openings that weekend, he is a popular guy!

Gonna miss Chuck.

The hit list. I can print out the table map of the venue so you can to. My hit list: E09 Leroy, M04 Buck and U12 BCCI. (I don't see the reverend's name...). These three tables take you all over the room and it is usually only in one room.

gsea, 121 scaler @ BCCI table: give bcci a ping and tell em you want it now, right dang now. You are a member aren't you?

I enjoy taking photos of the knives so that I can linger over them later. With the press of the crowd you can get crossways with vendors and shoppers if you linger and not buy. Money doesn't grow on trees for me so unless I am dumb struck by something I see everything at least once, weigh and measure my hunger for it vs my cash supply, then make a purchasing decision. Taking photos of the personalities incriminates some folk, married people kissing other than their spouses for example and then people who reported sick to work but are cutlery shopping and such, but I try and get the public domain folk that we all know here. I try to avoid having my picture taken as I have a face for radio and tend to spoil the shot. However, it is my pleasure to report the show in Eugene because it is real gold in my hands good as the people are good oh so good and the cutlery can be eye-popping. You can get into a collection show and tell with a cognizanti that takes over the will to use the camera and lose track of time. This has happened to me and it can be terrific fun and educational.

I'm going to try and make it this year. I grew up about 20 miles from where the show is held, and went almost every year. We moved 7 years ago, and with my job, I haven't been back yet. We are only 125 miles away though.

It's a great show, but you really need to be able to spend at least 3-4 hours, or more. By the time you get to the other end, it is almost overwhelming. In a good way :D

Oregon - Is there a list of which tables everyone will be at? I looked at the OKCA website and only found the table layout but not who is at which tables. I may have to go Saturday and try to get there before everything has been picked through.

Unfortunately not a member, hope to soon. :(

Nuts! Join now, lifer, is my suggestion. I believe that the deal is you can buy from the BCCI table with a membership. That is how I joined: Visited OKCA, saw a gotta have it, didn't get it right away, three weeks later called BCCI and knife was still available so I joined and bot the folder over the phone. Only regret was that I didn't buy lifer then, but I bot the lifer the next year in person at the BCCI table as I lusted after everything that was on it.

Yes. There is. And boy o boy do you have to hunt and peck for it. I spent an hour trying to get it to print and failed. It is on the sight but you gotta dig for it. It is in show information. Good luck.

If you are there Sunday I hope to bump into you.

I was told that Bernard Levine, who lives in Eugene, will be there but without a table... He is magnificent to speak with and he attracts the most unusual and sometimes fantastic pieces of cutlery you will probably ever see. Find him, watch him, follow him, speak with him and see what people bring him to explain.

The day before I spend all day at the yearly refresher of Modular Blade Concepts & Applications with Bram Frank.:D

Saturday I always go to Buck knives first, Sypderco second, and Shepard Hills Cutlery (Case Knives) third. BCCI and Leroy will now be added in my top 5.

That would be really cool. If I know for sure I am going, I will send you an e-mail or P.M...

Bernard is a character from what I have heard. I have never met him. It will seem odd if I go, because I haven't been to the show since Bob Lum passed.
He was a great guy, as well as being very accomplished in his field. I did have one disagreement with him, and that was about which Japanese restaurant he thought was best in Eugene lol. I guess I'm not one to argue the fact though, as I don't care for it, irregardless of who made it :D

You are putting your hit list together too AW. Good to have a plan when you are looking for a needle in a room full of stacks of needles.

Joe is outstanding to attend the show. He honors us by attending. Chuck, the one time I met him in Eugene, brought brand spanking new 560s and sold then for a song and a dance!

I just sent in my membership renewal to OKCA yesterday. If I can attend Friday, members only day, I will try because I've never been able to make it that day but only on Sunday. Pesky work has always crowded that weekend in years past but maybe this time will be different.

As always I'll be looking for the large, rare and elusive utility spearpoint Wire Jack to finish my collection. I've searched the world, via the internet, and found 3 (two in USA in the hands of collectors and one in France in the hands of a Brit ex-pat collector but nobody will release their grip for me). Anybody spots on you have 1/2 a beer coming. :)
